We are trying to come up with something different for Father's Day.  We usually call all the fathers to the front after the children sing a few songs and our Pastor takes a basket of $1 goodies by each one and after shaking their hand, the father chooses one and then they go back to their seat.  I am in need of something NEW!  HELP I'm not sure of what to do .  Also, if anyone has any program ideas ....e-mail me at lbeloat@gisboncounty.net.

Thanks and God Bless,

Lana

Don't know how much this will help, but...for Mothers' Day, we had a Mother's choir. Women who don't ususally sing in the choir because they are involved in other ministries or (like me) don't feel that singing is their gift had a few practices after church and learned two simple but beautiful songs. Everyone enjoyed it so much, and our choir director was brought to tears. Maybe your men could do something similar, perhaps with your worhip band if you have one.

Also, our Pastor's wife (who is from the islands) made leis out of candies for all the women. The Pastor called all the women to the front (not just moms) and the children put a lei on each one, gave her a hug and wished her a happy Mothers' Day. Then some of the kids read some relevant scriptures. I believe for Fathers' Day we are getting special leis made from shells or seeds. I've also seen some made of fern leaves (OTC has some silk ones).

We also had four mothers of different ages give their testimony. All in all it was a very nice service, and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

I posted an idea under AR general (Appreciation Idea) that told what we did for Mothers day and have done for Fathers Day, using Hershey bars.

We had our kids make sugar cookies (slice and bake). Put them in muffin tins to curl up the edges. We then dipped strawberries in chocolate and set one in the center of each cookie.  Put them in plastic boutiner boxes (or other containers if you choose, we get the boxes at a floral supply) with paper shred or easter grass in the bottom.

Thank you both for the great ideas.  I will discuss them with our Sunday school staff and see if any work for us.  I am sorry I haven't responded more quickly, but I am just getting use to the new forum.

Would anyone know of any father's day songs that kids can sing?

Thanks for all your help and suggestions!
