Hello everyone!

We are in the planning stages of a community outreach to parents regarding internet safety.   Has anyone else in the forum done one of these?   There are lots of great sites for internet safety and we are partnering with local law enforcement, but we were also looking for something that applies spiritual principles as well.   Does anyone know of anything like this?   Please let me know !!

Well.. I found a great training web site called Isafe.org.. but I'm still looking for a spiritual spin.. I'm looking into the book "Myspace for Moms and Dads" ... no one has done anything like this?  or knows a church that has?

I read an article in Group Magazine about how Myspace is not as bad as people think. But, I still think it is not good for us teens.

There are a lot of sites for internet safety and ways of helping. Our state Attorney General's office offers material on this. I will see if I can find some of the fliers and brochures in my files. If I do, I will send you a message.

I hope this is successful and you have great feedback!

Good luck & thank you for doing this!!

You're right... Myspace is not "inherently evil"... just as the internet has lots of potential, it all depends upon what the individual decides to use it for.   After looking at facts and figures regarding internet usage, predators, and so forth, I just believe that parents (and students) need to be enlightened as to the potential dangers and risks associated with it.   Also, I feel it is a good idea to promote a Christian attitude while online, so that we are not living a "secret cyber life".. that's really not a secret to God anyway!

I welcome any information that you may find!  THANKS

Scott
