Please keep my family in your prayers.  We have made the decision that our children will not attend the public school in our town next school year.  This is due to my son not getting the education that he needs and other issues within the school district.  My daughter will start Pre-K this year.  We have an appointment today at a Christian academy.  Our family doctor has told us that my son is an ideal person for a private school or a Montessori school.  Pray that if God wants them in this Christian academy that God will open the doors and provide the finances needed for it.  I will keep you all updated.  Thank you so much for your prayers.

Jamie,

I totally understand where you are coming from, we took our one son out of public school last year.  We went through all the right channels, the school did there testing and then they refused to give him any help with his needs.  I worked at the school at the time and I knew all the people who tested him, they all said there was a processing issue (that could be solved with some extra help) but the head people refused him the help.  We noticed an issue in first grade and started then trying to get him help, it took until 4th grade for them to test him at all!!  We homeschooled him this year and saw great improvement.  We are taking our other 2 kids out for next year.  This was a God thing to have them all ready to come home to be schooled as we are moving this summer and switching would have been hard.

I pray you find the right schooling enviroment for your son and daughter, and that all neccesary openings and finances all come together.

Blessings to you!

Melissa - NY

I hear you on the school issues and God providing finances. We are wanting to send our youngest to a private school for High school. He's a great kid and bright kid and I think he will get more out of his education if we make this move. However God has to show us this is also his plan because the finances are going to be tough to do.

Praying God shows us all what his will is in these situations.

Thank you all so much for your prayers.  It has been awesome the past two days watching God work.  My son will be going to a Christian academy in the fall.  We get a discount because my husband is a pastor and we have also applied for financial aid.  I didn't even know that this existed with this private school.  My son kept asking me during the tour if I could sign him up to go there.  For him to ask was definately a God moment yesterday.  He normally doesn't deal well with change but he is excited about school this year.  Please continue to keep us in your prayers concerning the financial aid.  I know that it will not be a problem because God has already opened so many doors the past two days.  We were told yesterday that there were only 2 spots left in 3rd grade.  Praise God that we got one of them!!!  Thank you again for your prayers.

Jaimie, that's awesome.  Sounds like your son is excited!

It must be the year for deciding on private school.  We are sending Jesslyn this fall to complete her junior high career to a Christian private school.  John and I wrestled with it, as we built this house in a great school district.  However she will benefit so much more from this school and she is excited.   We never considered private school for the boys, Jared (who has CP for those who don't know) needed placement in High school, but the district paid for that.  And our oldest needed an IEP too..so we kept him in the public school.

When Jesslyn is ready for High school career we will reevalute but for 07-10 she is in a Christian school and we feel blessed.

Sorry to hijack your thread Jamie!!  I will pray for your family too!

God bless you all as you advocate for your children with special needs.  I have twin 29-yr. old "boys" who were born at 24 weeks "gestation".  They had a 50% chance of life at birth.  They both have learning disabilities and one is visually impaired.  Praise God that is the extent of their impairment from such a tramatic beginning of life.  They both needed special education during their school careers.  It was a constant "battle" to get the services they needed.  They did finish high school with IEP certificates.  God sustained me through all the decisions and advocating for them.  Today, the oldest is recently married to a wonderful Christian woman, working in HVAC, taking 1 class per semester at the local college and obviously able to live a "normal" life.  The younger works at the dealership my husband works at.  He does have social skill problems and continues to deal with his visual impairment.  What I am saying to you is, no matter how overwhelming it can be at times to advocate for your children, you are "right on" about dedicating every decision to the Lord and asking His will for your children's and your lives.  Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.  I went through so many stages of anger at the school, and grief in the concern for the kids' futures because I didn't stay focused all the time with faith in God and His love for my precious boys.  It is inspiring to read your posts.  I am in prayer for you as you face what, at times, seems like the adversity of the school personnel and policies.  God bless you in all that you do for your children.
