| | We have been using LIO since September and love it! However, I am having a very difficult time getting the kids pumped up about the music. I love how the LIO music reinforces the bible lesson/point each week but they don't seem to enjoy the non-vbs tunes. I love music in worship so it has been a source of frustration that anything more than one song seems to lose their interest. I have tried breaking the songs up -- like one at the beginning and one at the end. It helps some but we oftentimes run out of time to do the second one. They are responding very well to the bible stories and activities -- in fact one the reasons we miss the second song. But I know there are kids that learn through the music and I do think it is an important part of worship. So...has anyone else had this problem? Have you found a solution? Thanks for any suggestions!

| | We have been using LIO since September, too. Our kids have responded well to the music and the leaders love it because of it's 'user friendliness'. By now we all have our favorites and the kids love it now when a new series brings back some old songs. I don't know what age groups you are worshipping with, or what size screen you are using, etc. But here are some things you might consider if you are not doing them already. The age group here is K - 4th grade (about 50 - 60 kids per service) We ALWAYS start with Living Inside Out - it gets everyone into singing right away because they know the words and motions by heart. *The leaders have to be 100% into the hand motions, singing with the kids, enjoying the music, getting the kids pumped up. If the leaders don't participate, the kids won't either. After this song, we usually stop and ask the kids what Living Inside Out means? It lets the new kids and visitors know and gives the regulars a chance to share. Repetition is good. We play the music pretty loud and we use a large screen TV so everyone can see. Sometimes we joke together about the hand motions because they can get tricky, but we try to make it fun, run around the room when it indicates, form big circles, etc. It has to be fun and crazy and the kids will do it. Even the ones who resist at first usually come around. When we play the Bible verse song, we stop and talk about that for a minute and have a few kids recite it. It gets everyone involved. We end with a slower song and close in prayer. I don't know if any of that helps or not. Just don't give up. (remember the song "Persevere?)  |

| Those are some great ideas. Thank you for sharing. We actually use a projection system and I do think that makes a difference. But I will try some of your suggestions over the next few weeks and see how it goes. It's all about finding how to make it work for your kids and leaders!

| | I pretty much follow the large group program as stated with one exception. We start with a countdown or jumpstart, and right into the theme song. Then one more, and then the Bible verse. This is all standing up. THEN, I get them to sit down, and I do the Bible lesson activity, skit, whatever. Followed by another song from that session's list. The key is breaking it up so they are not sitting (on the floor) too long. |

| | We use 4-5 of the songs at the beginning of our service. Its great because the songs are modern and catchy....most of our kids do great with them....but I'd have to say that the girls love the motions and the guys like to either sit or some do get up on stage and sing along with the songs. | | We also have a big projection screen that is like a 100" screen so the kids really get to see the DVD version in BIG format!! We have a couple microphones set up on stage in front of the screen just in case some kids want to get up and do the motions and sing....toughest things is that some of our kids get used to their favs and then we go onto the next session and its mostly new....I think that's good but keep the old DVD's around so you can alway play some of the older well known ones they have previously liked. | I usually picked a couple songs from each module to learn. If there was a repeat I also used that. The kids had to take turns with helping with the motions. It's tough switching DVD's to do another song. Unless one has access to 2 DVDs.
