| | In the last couple of weeks I accepted a part-time youth directors Job at a local Church and now the hard part saying goodbye to the kids where I have volunteered for the last 7 years. I will be meeting with them this Sunday am and letting them know. I was just wandering if any of you have suggestions for a final lesson when doing something like this. So far my plan is one last lesson on Gods grace and showing it to others, which is what I have tried to teach them over the last few years. Any help would be appreciated. |

| I, too, said goodbye to my group after three years. We'd gotten very close in that time. They were kinda mad at first.
My lesson, the day I announced my departure, was about being self-teaching, reading their Bibles, and taking responsibility for their own spiritual growth. It was about a month before I left.
The final class we just had a party with good food and played our favorite games. The kids wrote me letters of their best class memories and the other leader assembled them into an album with pictures.
It was hard leaving.

| When I left my first youth group after 6 years it was very hard on me and the students. I shared some lessons from Abraham's life about moving with God when God wants you to move. The struggled for about a year and a half before finding a new YP. Now almost 7 years later the group is still trucking, with of course new kids that have moved up through the ranks, and I still keep in touch with some of the "old" group.

| | Here's a link to my final lesson: http://coconutmtn.com/Assets/PDF's/steak_lesson.pdf It also works good for graduation day. It's based on Hebrews 5:12-14 "In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil." Give it a read. You might like the idea too.
