| | I am looking at the family Christmas event, a Night in Bethlehem. I'd like to know some more information on how it works. Is it basically like a Christmas VBS? Does it have the same format? Is it hard to get volunteers at that time of year? How many volunteers does it take? I'd appreciate any feedback! Thanks, AmyS. |

| | A Night in Bethlehem is easier than VBS because it's only for 1 night--so it's a lower commitment for volunteers. You'll set up the "town of Bethlehem," where visitors can sign the census, make crafts in the marketplace shops, and even visit Joseph and Mary (who are excitedly showing off their new baby boy!). You'll need one volunteer for every shop you choose to have--so if you want all of the shops, you'd need 10 shopkeepers. There are a variety of drama roles, and we advise having a set-up team as well as a publicity team so each job is more manageable. This is super outreach-friendly--an incredible way to welcome newcomers and visitors to your church, and a unique way to minister to families during a busy time of year.

| | Jody, Are these shops/crafts the same as ones from BV? I haven't done BV yet but have already purchased the kit. Are the things in the one day program taken from BV?

| I too, would like more information on this program! Is there any way to get additional information without buying the kit? We have never done a Christmas program like this but I would like to suggest it this year! I guess my one main question is can you do this with a small budget? Thanks!

| | Wow, this looks sharp. How'd I miss this. Q: For those of us who don't do the HolyLand VBS's, how much of an investment needs to be made in the set. Are there tents, etc. to be purchased? Or can canvas fascades be used easily.

| | I did Bethlehem Village on a weekly basis leading up to Christmas last year. I used no tents. I laid tables flat on the floor for the census taker and the craft shops and posted signs. I laid cloths on them and put their materials in baskets next to them. I had to set up and take down each week and it worked extremely well. The kids and the workers loved it. |
