I'm thinking about how to introduce grapple to my new class. Especially parent handouts. Many of our students come in on a bus (without parents) so I need something to send home to them.

I'm starting with:
- the parent consent form of course.
- And the parent Q&A.
- And a list of the Kids Rules for Online Safety.

What I don't have is just a general "what is grapple?" page. Any ideas?

I'm thinking about printing the image of the first lesson (what the students would see on the web site) and sending that home with them. Since they won't have a chance to see the web site before class begins anyway. If anyone has created a great intro handout that they would like to share, please let us know!

Your idea to print the screen for parents to be able to see what a student will be seeing is a good one. You could also pull information off the group.com/grapple web site under "All About Grapple" if you are looking for more wording and information for parents. Another idea would be to send a note home, and encourage the parents to go to group.com/grapple and watch the training video. I think this would be a great way to introduce parents to Grapple!

Enjoy Grappling!

I have the same problem with not being able to always meet the parents.  We are having a Grapple training session for the parents Sunday after church.  We're providing pizza and asking the parents to come and check it out.  We are also going to get their email addresses and all contact info if we don't have it already.  The other page that I'm going to give them is the weekly outline of lessons.  It's great because is gives the parents an idea of what we talked about as well as the key verses that we used.

We are having a launch event where we will be taking the kids and parents through mygrapple live using a projector. We are providing pizza and will be handing out the documents for parent consent and Q&A. We actually just finished doing a web survey with our kids so the mygrapple is nice follow-up. We really felt like we needed to show both the kids and parrents what mygrapple was in a live form. Since the idea of combining curriculum with the web is new to most kids and parents it seemed like a little more detail was warranted.

To start off our fall children's program we always have a movie and games night for the children, this year while to movie was running I offered a 30 min. overview of the Grapple program for parents of students in the class. We watched the Tour video then spent some time looking at the mygrapple website so parents could see what their children will be doing on the site. We also reviwed the online guide for kids and I asked parents to discuss with their children before returning the permission slip.
