| | One of our 5th grade teachers is having trouble telling the Bible Story to her class. We use NRSV Bibles and the class can't seem to understand that translation and loses attention span quickly. Does anyone have a suggestion for telling the story? She suggested using a children's Bible with pictures. I'm wondering if there's a good resource for that particular grade out there. Thanks! |

| | Thanks for your message! A couple of thoughts come to mind. First of all, the FaithWeaver lessons, in the Bible Story Exploration section, share the Bible story in different ways. For example, this past week (God Speaks to Elijah in a Whisper) created modern-day adaptations of the Bible story. The week before included doing a skit that explains the Bible story from the assigned characters' perspectives. Next week will have learners create 'emotion cards' that help them understand how Elijah and Elisha felt. Perhaps, though, you are talking about the pieces where, like next week, kids read from the Bible. Right now, I'm using the NLT (Hands-On Bible) with my 5th-grader at home, and she is enjoying it (and I find it enjoyable, too, as it's not what I had as a 5th-grader). Perhaps others have ideas, too, but this Bible (the Hands-On Bible) is intended for elementary ages. Hope that helps! Please let us know if we can be of service in any other way. God bless you and your ministry!

| | Thanks, Deb! The part of the class when students read from the Bible is exactly what I'm talking about. I'll look into the NLT Hands-On Bible. |
