I have a felt/flannel board that I am wanting to start using in my sunday school class. However, I don't have any flannel board stories and we are a very, very small church. If anyone has any that they would be willing to donate, we would appreciate it very much. We just don't have the budget to buy the Betty Lukens or Felt Source materials because they are so expensive.

You do not need to buy felt board characters and background - pull out last years Sunday school curriculum and cut out the biggest figures, make them stiff: either laminate them or put them on cardstock and add fine grade sandpaper to the back - strips will hold fine. Get some flannel and cover foam board. Use a nice dark background color - dark blue or brown that wont show wear. Thats all you need! Usually your SS materials come in story form - so you will be able to bag each story and label it for future use.
Another point - you may want to consider doing a slightly different story telling technique. Jerome Berryman and the Good Shepherd, Godly Play material - they use a pretty box with a piece of fabric and the story board pieces.
Gather the children in a circle on the floor, bring out the box, lay out the fabric and smooth it. Pull out each character and tell the story on the floor on the fabric. it always amazes me how riveted the children get when you do this in a calm quiet voice.
