We do not break out our cl like the Hands On BIble does.  For example we have Kindergarten and 1st together, but the labs avaiable are Pre-K & K or 1st & 2nd.  I'd love your suggestion on which learning lab I should get for each class.

Here's our class breakdown.

2 year olds, 3 year olds, 4's/5's, K/1st, 2nd/3rd, and 4th/5th.

Thanks.

Colene -

Some of our customers tend to go the next age level up if their age levels are different. So, for instance with your 4th and 5th grade class, they would go with the Learning Lab for 5&6th grade. This is a good practice for combined ages so that the older kids can help the younger ones. Typically for Hands-On Bible Curriculum, the material is not so advanced that those in the younger age level will not understand what is being taught. Because each class utilizes various gizmos and activities, kids get right into the meat of the study and understand each week's Bible point by the end of the lesson. Others on this board can chime in about your age breakdown but in most cases, going with the learning lab of the older age level will work well.

i teach 3-5 years olds and we went with the 3 and 4 year old lesson. We chose to go down one level to meet the needs of our children. We train our teachers to beable to make things harder or easer based on teh group of children at the time. I just love using hands on we have been using it for 6 monthns and just started our 7 month the childrne just love to pas the Bible and get there stamps

I agree. For combined ages in Preschool, I 've found it better to go down a level. Pre-K to 3 & 4 year olds has the same learning lab materials and experienced teachers can adjust activities to challenge the older children.

However, with Elementary age children it is better to go up a level as Angela recommended. However, when working with a combined K - 2nd grade, I would purchase a set of Bible Big Books to supplement your lessons. I find they are very helpful when you are working with children who are still learning to read. The early readers might even enjoy reading the Bible Big Books to their classmates!

I'm looking into using Bible Blitz but I'm confused on the age breaks.  We are a starter church and at the moment I have only 12 kids in the Pre-K to 3rd grade area (We use grapple for the 4th through 6th grade.)

Do I have to purchase a set for Pre-K - K, 1st - 2nd and then 3rd???  At 74.99 each that is way over my budget.  Is Bible Blitz adaptable for all those ages?

Great question! Yes, Bible Blitz was created for multi-age classrooms like you describe. It is a little different from Hands-On Bible Curriculum. Bible Blitz focuses every lesson directly on the Bible. It does not include a Learning Lab so you would have to gather supplies. However, it is very reasonably priced for a church like yours. It's only $74.99 per quarter. Bible Blitz is meant for Grades 1 through 6th so my one caution is that some of the activities may be too advanced for kindergarten. However, we have had many churches successfully use it with them. Lower age levels may need more volunteer helpers to read and discuss the Bible activities.

If you have more questions about Bible Blitz, we have some great curriculum specialists on staff here at Group who would love to walk you through everything with Blitz. It does come with a 100% satisfaction guarantee so you can try it and see if it works with your group.
