| chiefyouth (12/12/2007) If you have ever been to a concert, you have seen DMX lighting at work. DMX is a language that can control individual aspects of a light. In concerts, the moving lights use this. You can change the colors, direction, and design all from a lighting console or computer. It can also control the power of a strobe or the amount of smoke from a smoke machine.
Hope this explains it a little bit for you. Thanks, but that sounds quite expensive. (not to mention complicated)

| | DMX lighting is very expensive along with a little hard to program if you have not been trained on it. I have been using DMX lighting at our VBS for years now. I own a DJ business and have about $20,000 invested in lights. The kids love the lights and this year it will actually work with the theme much better than previous years. One thing that is nice about the DMX lighting is the ability to use them as "follow spots". I have my wife or another volunteer sit by my lighting controller and use the joystick to control the spot lights. They can move them around and follow me or another leader on the stage whereever we go. A good controller, and 2 to 4 DMX lights could set you back about $2,500
