Hello,

I am new to this site.

I am a childrens minister for a very small church. I started off as a sub, but then found myself running our childrens ministry. I work with 2 age groups, they range from 5-9. If you have any Ideas on how I can establish a strong ministry or any financial ideas would be great.

Thank you very much,

mghobbs

Hi! and welcome to our loving community.

I myself have been working with children for over 20 years and have served as Children's pastor for at least 10. A strong Children's Ministry grows with much prayer and perseverance. It is definitely not as easy as some would think. The downs may, at one point, exceed the ups, but knowing that God has called you and that He will be faithful is what keeps you going no matter what. You will see his hand at work supplying all that you need even if you lack support. One thing is for sure, the rewards are immeasurable! Let me begin by redirecting you to our Children's Ministry forum. Here you will find many topics that can be of great help to you. In the meantime I will be praying for you and the ministry God has entrusted to you. May you be blessed and encouraged in all you do and may your heart be filled with a greater joy and passion as you help the little ones grow in the knowledge of our Savior!

P.S. You MUST HAVE VBS!!!! and this is the place to be for ideas, ecouragement and support!

Hi, I am new to this site but have been a children's ministry director for our sunday kids club for 6 years now. We started with a total of 3 children and with alot of prayer and hard work our numbers have incresed to 40 children. We use rotation with our children. what i mean by this is we teach the same story for a month taught 8 different ways. The kids rotate through the different workshops (cooking, drama, science, art, music, baking, storytelling, writing). It has worked really well for us and if your interested just drop me an email and I can help fill you in.

Have you read Children's Ministry in the 21st Century? http://store.grouppublishing.com/OA_HTML/ibeCCtpItmDspRte.jsp?item=270966&section=16783

I would also recommend Children's Ministry Guide for Smaller Churches by Rick Chromey. (I don't know if it's still in print. Maybe you could find a used copy online.)

Both are great resources to get you started.

We've had a youth group for some time, but it was really hard to get children/teens to become active in the church.  Earlier this year, someone introduced me to Qlubb.com - it's basically a site where groups can organize events and come together.  Though we just started using it, it has really helped us get people involved in fundraising activities, volunteer events.  Qlubb has online sign-up sheets, reminders, calendaring..  It's really easy to use and it's free which is always a concern for us.
