Hey all!  This is my first year directing VBS and our church's first year with Group.  I was just wanting to clarify what I found in the director's manual.  There doesn't seem to be much of a daily skit....is that right?  I found a pretty detailed skit for the final program, but the only character used on a daily basis is Professor Wilma and she only talks to the leader.  Is that right?

If there is more of a skit in the program, could someone please point me in the right direction as to where to find it?

Thanks!

No, you are correct. Group does not do the involved, 3 or 4 character skit every day, like some other publishers. One of my many reasons for preferring it!

But the Bible Blast area is a good place to put those who like drama!

It would probably be really easy to write skits for PL if you wanted to have skits.  The hardest part for us, doing JM, is finding people to do the skits!

God Bless,

In the Faith Fusion Fanale each night you will use more people. I know that you need someone to play light man and Jesus and people they meet. I like that they keep to one person for the opening as the kids really bond with the character. Last year our pastor played Rowdy. One little girl asked him are you a real cowboy? He said no I am the Pastor of this church. She whispered back "I won't tell anyone!" Made his day.
I added a sheriff last year in the closing to summarize what Rowdy was up to. It was a very simple two minute skit.

So take the ideas that Group gives you and build on it.

There is a skit on the main page under updates and freebies to use in your closing with parents that has lots of characters. Too many for our small church.

God Bless

You can always write your own!  I do for our congregation to generate excitement betwee now and VBS.  They are fairly easy to write and you can write the parts for specific ppl.  You will be surprised how easy it is to write a 5-10 minute script!
