Does the Power Lab Starter Kit actually come with the materials or is it basically just the manuals/instructions?  If it does come with the materials, how many children will it serve?

Only the manuals, the videos and music you need, and samples of the crafts and bible packs, and a sample poster, and budget poster.

Hi,
The Power Lab Kit is a VBS in a can. It will help your church reach from one child to???. I have read on this forum that some churches have reached 500 children. The kit has a folder for each station leader. You decide what works best for your church. For chadder you would need to order the science kit ($15). Most of the other suggestion in the kit can be found around the house at the dollar store in your director book (clip art) and on this forum. The sharing of ideas is priceless.

What sold me on group is the bible story area. I have worked VBS for many years and we always lost the kid's interest in the bible story part. As it was , sit down and listen. Group makes the kids part of the story and they come alive and they can not wait to come back the next day. The first year our church did Group, I was outside the Bible area one crew was waiting to go inside and one crew was coming out. One child recognized a brother or friend in the other group and said you are going to love this! It made it all worth while.

I have shared what I see happen with kids, I have no words to describe how this program touches everyone who volunteers. You will be touched. God is Powerful.

God Bless

Riverside Kathy

You do have to buy extra stuff, everything is not in the can. The decorator CD is not in the can, and if you want to use the crafts, there is only ione of each in there.  The kit is a great place to start and at a great price, but the add ons can get pricey.

That's true. That is one reason why this forum is so valuable. There are more VBS directors with low or no budgets for their VBS than there are with big ones. For many of us the kit alone can be up to 1/4 of our funds. And although there are some essentials that I personally suggest you save for (Bible Buddies, Books, posters and publicity items) many of us could not even think of doing a VBS without finding less expensive alternative crafts and decorations. In addition, this forum hosts some amazingly creative people who provide additional help with cost effective decorating ideas.

I suggest you get the kit and see what items you really want and can afford to purchase. Then pray, fund raise and dig into this board for ideas, encouragement and support.

Partnering with parents to "TRAIN" up our children in the way they should go!
