| | I would like to request prayer for myself and VBS. Right now I am feeling very overwhelmed. My oldest daughter is getting married May 31. I am directing Vacation Bible School and it runs June 16-22. There is a very good chance that my job will require me to be out of town the entire week before VBS. There is so much to be done and does not seem to be enough time to get everything done. I am normally very excited about Vacation Bible School and everywhere I go I see things that can be turned into a wonderful prop for the stage or can be used for a station. This year I just don't have my normal enthusiasm. I love VBS and feel that it is the ministry that God has called me to. I ask that you help me pray that I can regain the joy that ministering to children and their family through VBS brings. Kecia In Kentucky |

| Hi Kecia,
Keeping you in my prayers. I have been where you are, you are feeling pulled many different ways. Is there a room at church where you can keep VBS stuff until yours starts. That helps keeping the house ready for the wedding. Plan one weekend and ask people ( vbs staff) to help get the decorations made.Also during this time make a map of where they are to go so when you only have a few hours to decorate you know where it goes. Also remember its the program, it s the bible stories and songs that the kids will be talking about. God will be with you and will bless your program.
Relax and enjoy being Mother of the bride. I treasure every memory I have of my children's weddings.

I was where you are last year--the wedding was July 14th and VBS started on July 29th. My daughter lived out of state so much of the wedding preparation fell on me. I mapped out days for VBS prep and days for wedding business. I made as many of the props ahead of time that I could and even scaled back to suit my time frame. In the end, both events went off just fine. Some of my excitement for VBS wasn't there but I don't do a daughter's wedding every year and I felt that was OK to not do as much as I had in previous years. No one said a thing. When VBS week came, it was just as much fun watching it unfold as it always is. I didn't have to go out of town for business but I did have the added pleasure of watching my granddaughter while Mom was on her honeymoon so I had a different job added to my normal routine. God is always good. Enjoy your wedding preparations and that joyous day and then enjoy your VBS as well!!! |

| | Thank you for your prayers and encouragement. I have set down and made a list of everything I want to do for both the wedding and VBS and then put them in order of most important to least and given myself permission to not be able to do everything by myself. I am very lucky to have a husband and another friend from church that will create any decorations and props that I ask. I am feeling about everything and plan to enjoy being mother of the bride and director of vbs. Thank you for your prayers!!! |

| | Kecia Post an SOS on this board to see if anyone near you is doing VBS before yours. Surely they will loan or give you their decorations. This would be a blessing to you and htey would be blessed as well. We were blessed to be the 4th church to use decorations from AR. What a Godsend it was. Don't know how your staff works, but I assign mine jobs to be done ahead of time (like decor). Everyone helps, and everything goes well. |
