| | I'm trying to encourage kids to get involved in really meditating on the word of God, but I'm not sure where to start. I want to give them a couple simple verses to begin with and encourage them to do more than simply read and memorize them, but to really think about applying them. Does anyone have a recommendation of good verses for kids to meditate on and how meditation practices can be adapted for children's use? |

| | We have used Revelation 4 with mixed results depending on the kids age.....we got the idea from a book given to me on praying the bible..it was refreshing content since that chapter of the bible is full of word-pictures and such.... the kids meditated on what they heard....then they drew it. Older kids grasped it well and enjoyed it. For the younger group it was still ok but less ... i think some psalms that highlight protection Psalm 91:1-2, and how great God thinks they are will work well too... Thanks Lois, HisFireKids.com

| I PERSONALLY love this verse from Psalm 37...esp in the NLT translation:
"The steps of the godly are directed by the Lord; He delights in the details of their lives. Though they may stumble, they will not fall, for He holds them by the hand." (I think it starts at verse 23)
I believe the visual the kids get from this...the Lord holding their hand, is something they can imagine and use in times of trouble.
Of course, others....like Matthew 5:16..."Let your light shine..." is easy to explain and apply...there is one from Isaiah..."Here is the way, walk ye in it" that is clear and may be one they can truly meditate on...I will let you know if anything else comes to mind.
