, thanks SO much for taking on the joy and responsibility of sharing your time and love with the learners of whatever age you are leading! May God bless you and your time with them!
A couple of tips as you're getting started:- make sure you read over the lesson completely before class. I'd suggest you do this at least several days before class, because that way the Bible Point becomes part of your thinking, and you can see how it applies to YOUR life that week. When you can share within the lesson some of your own experiences, that helps students see how real the Bible is for today, and how it makes a difference for our lives today.
- do the lesson as it is written. That doesn't mean your goal is to get through EVERYTHING in the lesson. We try to provide more than you need for your time with kids (and you can find another idea each week at the Teacher Tips section of www.faithweaver.com -- for each age level!). So check to see how much time you have, and then look at the "A Look at the Lesson" for a summary of the activities and approximate time each takes. Then select which activities you want to do with your learners. Make sure to include at least one Getting Started activity, at least one Bible Story Exploration activity, and at least one Bible Application activity. Just make sure to follow the teacher guide and use the words and questions provided. Over time as you grow more comfortable and understand the uniqueness of your class, you can certainly add your own style to the lesson. But our intention is to write the lesson in such a way (and we've tested it!) that we know it works--which helps you to be successful!
- finally, have FUN!
If you are excited and enjoying what you are doing, your learners will be excited too. Be willing to try new things. We provide a variety of different kinds of activities to address kids' different learning styles and interests. And be willing to try new activities!
God bless you in your ministry. And let us know if we can serve you in ANY way! We're praying for you!
