| Hello brothers and sisters in Christ,
I was in the car driving home from work today when I was just overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit. (I believe, that is my hope that it was the Holy Spirit)
I actually cried and was just... it is amazing and hard to describe in words. I had a powerful feeling about starting a Soup Kitchen to feed the hungry.
I can't explain it, or where it came from, or why in the world this is something that would be on my mind so suddenly - and so very powerfully. I don't know ANYTHING about feeding the hungry and haven't been thinking about any such thing. This hit me like a ton of bricks. It feels like a calling, like a COMMAND...... God, I can't explain it.
So, now, I have a desire so strong I can taste it - and get so emotional that I nearly burst into tears when I think about it - all about a "Soup Kitchen" for the poor and hungry.
What do I know about feeding the hungry? Where do I start? And why are the words "Soup Kitchen" in my mind...... so many questions.
Wow, this is so powerful! I'll be praying about this for some time, but I was posting this to get everyones advice.
This is less related to the "Youth Group" as a whole, and more related to something I need to do - if it's God calling me to start a Soup Kitchen to feed the Hungry.
Can I get some advice, ANY advice, ALL the advice you can offer on starting and maintaining a Soup Kitchen for the hungry?
Thanks so much for your spiritual and practical advice.
God Bless!
---Chuck

| When my husband and I were part of an outreach church we had a feeding ministry. We got approved with "Feed the Children" and they provided food to us to distribute free of charge. You might want to check with them. Good luck and God bless as youtake a step of faith to do what God has called you to do.

| | When we began a weekly free dinnner at our church (one of our couples just felt it was something that needed done) we discovered something interesting about 'the hungry'. It wasn't just physical hunger. Each week, our guests are divided fairly equally into those who need a meal, those who need a safe place to relax and let their kids play, and some who just need someone to listen and love them. God will bless your efforts. |
