| | Okay, I have started setting up our website for VBS this summer. It's my first time directing VBS and using the Web Toy Box. Anyway, I registered my two children as a "test". My daughter will be in 4th grade next year and my son will be in Kindergarten next year. I had no problems getting them registered, but I ran into a problem when I went to assign them each to a crew. I was under the impression the Squeaky Beaker's Preschool was for kids ages 3 through going into Kindergarten next year. Am I wrong? Because, when I try to assign my son to a preschool crew, it won't let me. He only shows up in the Elementary category. It's not a big deal one way or the other which group he's in, but I probably need to understand for sure where these kids go because I thought it was preschool. And if it is - then what am I doing wrong in the Web Toy Box?

| If you customize the participant form to ask for the grade last completed instead of the grade entering, then you will have the kids entering in Kindergarten with the preschoolers.

| | I just saw this post & was wondering about it. I was planning to ask the question as what grade the children are entering, since there was confusion last year at our VBS on this point. Once a school year is completed, children (and parents, too) think of themselves as being "in" the next grade. Therefore, I had planned to use the grade entering as the grade level. However, I definitely want those entering K to be in the preschool crews. Can I not manually put them in a preschool crew, even if the grade level is K? If not, is this something that can be changed? I don't know how the programming of the WTB is done -- if it just looks at the grade & automatically puts a "K" in the elementary crews, or if it's something that can be changed easily, or what, but just thought I'd ask. If it can't be changed for this year, maybe it could be considered for next year. I was under the impression that I could move kids from one crew to another manually, even if the WTB assigned them to a crew. Is my impression incorrect? Thanks for your help! |

| | I had some kids register, so I tried this, & I can manually put kids who are going into K in preschool crews. That makes me feel a lot better about this. Just thought I'd post so others would know that it's possible. |

| Sorry if I am asking a dumb question, but what do you mean by "manually" putting them into a crew? I am wondering about how to ask the age question on our registration form. I don't want to have to create extra work so I'd like to know what this "manually" means?
thanks.

| I assume she is meaning when she uses the "assign participants to crews" in the grey box on the left on the webtoybox customize website page.
