| Yes, yarn or ribbon would be much cheaper. I was thinking that something breakaway would be better. I guess yarn would break anyway under too much pressure.

| We purchased a "craft" (science theme) name tag from OTC for day one. It is serving as a name tag for all week and also as a craft for day one. 2-4-1 if you ask me. In our teacher training meeting next week, we will have everyone make one since they can get a little tricky and then for any kids that are not there on day one we will use them for the remainder of the week. The item number is kx-48/5665 and they are 4.95/dozen. I cost compared and they are less expensive than lanyards and cuter than cards!! Praying all goes well for everyone.

| | These are really cute. Do you do the buddies? We were going to do trading cards this year for the first time, and will need a way to hold them...hmmm. They could go on a clip that attaches to the name tag string. The kids are making test tubes on the first day that were going to clip to the lanyard if we do those - don't want the poor kids too weighted down!! Gwen

| We aren't doing any of the Group crafts. They are just out of our budget. I made trading cards on my own (we are handing these out in Chadders) and of course the OTC nametags on day one and then some scratch crafts from OTC, the "chia" head (bonus craft idea from Group). Homemade brainy boppers--bought supplies from OTC, Wal-mart and Family Dollar. Then bracelets (also OTC). I managed to purchase crafts for 60 kids for $80. I felt that was VERY reasonable!!

| | New name tag idea for Day one craft - OTC - Fabulous foam Easter Bracelets. They come in the bright hot pink, purple, yellow, lime green and turquoise. 5 colors exactly what I need for my 4 crews and jr crew leaders. I already have foam letters/shapes from Mardels. They come with velcro fasteners. 24 for $5.95. They also come w/ Easter foam decorations but I can keep the Easter decorations for next year.
I'M BLESSED!

| I just got at Hobby Lobby this week "Rexlace"...its the kind of lacing string you would use to make pony bead necklaces and stuff as a kid. (my daughter goes through yards of it!) anyways...I got the glow in the dark clear kind. We've got several things set up with Black lights, incuding a tunnel to go through, and that will be a fun effect for them. It's 100 yards for $1.99, plus you can always use your 40% off coupon!

| | Just thought I'd send a heads-up for anybody else who bought the OTC peel and stick science name tags. I went to put mine on tag board this morning and wasted two sheets trying to get them peeled off the backing. My package doesn't seem to be die cut around the edges very well. Does that make sense? They are tearing and still attached to the border that normally stays on the paper backing. I've ended up having to cut them out along the straight borders, leaving them still on the paper backing.
