| | Hi everyone, We're starting a new monthly event called "Servant Saturday" here in our youth ministry. The goal is to choose a different service opportunity each month where youth can actively participate in helping others in Christ's name. We had our first Servant Saturday last month, and we went to a shut-in member of our congregation to help her with some cleaning around her house. I really want to get the youth out into the community as well as serve the congregation. We are scheduled to go to a local homeless shelter in June. Does anyone have any creative ideas for servant events that you've done? Preferably they would be able to happen on a Saturday morning in 3-4 hours. I'd love to hear any and all ideas! In Christ, Celeste |

| | I try to find service activities as well for my youth group and I have found that soup kitchens, the salvation army, and other community groups are always very welcoming to youth groups helping out. I also try to get a church list from people who could use some simple chores done around their house or spend a Saturday cleaning up the church, painting, maintenance etc... for the church. |

| | Many large cities have food packaging centers where you can not only donate to the center but actually prepare boxes of food for the needy. Matt |
