| | I was worried about kids supposedly "gently" placing the bowling balls into a glass aquarium. It could be an accident just waiting to happen; either dropping it on a foot or breaking the tank. Also, don't know where we'd find two bowling balls of the specific weights needed. I'm thinking of just skipping that part, since there are so many other objects to test. If anyone can think of any other items that would work, let me know. Carol |

| I am not using the bowling balls either. I always think the worst and know that the bowling balls are an accident in the waiting.

| | It would be TOTALLY cool, though! I would just have the leader do it, not any kids. Also, think about using a large Rubbermaid container rather than a glass aquarium.

| Ask around--you'll be surprised at what you can round up. Even local bowling alleys might be willing to donate or sell at a really low price. The reason we have a kid do it is that at the field test, we felt like some kids thought it was a "fake" ball...when it wasn't. By having someone else come up and do it, kids realize that it's a real ball. So you could just do it yourself if you're worried about asking a kid...but don't skip it. It's really a jaw-dropper!

| | Hi guys, Getting a bowling ball seem to be a challenge but its not. Call your local bowling alley and explain that its for VBS experiment and will just borrow for a day. They just said yes to me for FREE! Nice

| I sent out an email through the Church and had a response within a day...you'd be suprised who might have a bowling ball laying around!

| | We are having our VBS this week. I would encourage everyone to use the bowling balls!! Our kids could not believe their eyes and had lots of questions. I put a towel in the bottome of the aquarium, but also asked the lab assistant to be extra careful! |

| | Nothing is panning out for me with the bowling balls! I've tried the congregation, relatives, craigslist, freecycle, goodwill (& other similar stores), the bowling alley and a few garage sales that are starting to pop up. Maybe I'll have to start calling other churches. I wasn't coming up with an aquarium either. So I bought a 29 gal. "clearish" rubbermaid container for $12. I guess I can use it to store Power Lab stuff after VBS! |

| | Just came from our local "junk" store. Found bowling balls for $2.00 each. Bought a bright purple one! They are supposed to have an aquarium Tuesday. Also found a large beaker and several containers I can use. At a garage sale I found the colors of paint I had not yet purchased. A gallon can, about half full was fifty cents. Wish I had checked garage sales before I purchased paint. He had about 5 different colors we could have used. I have posted a list of stuff needed on Craigslist and freecycle. Also, there is a website called "garagesalecow.com" where you can type in your zip code and find garage sales in your area. |
