Hi Allison -

73 people from 16 churches in the Central NC area attended the Powerlab VBS Networking Party in Raleigh, NC this past Saturday. Over 30 people from 16 churches attended the Powerlab VBS Networking Party in Cary, NC in March. Attendees came from the coastal area of NC, Central NC and the Triad area. I encouraged them all to get involved with the VBS Forum. Has anyone else gotten in contact with you?

Our church's VBS is June 23 - 27th and our church is located south of Raleigh proper. When is your church's VBS?

Hey Raleigh and Cary VBS Powerlab Networking Party attendees are you out there?

Hey Lisa,

I wish I could have attended the party, but it was not a Saturday that I had free.

My VBS is the same week as yours! I have not heard from anyone else yet this year. Last year I was fortunate to work with someone who had her VBS the week before mine, so I lent her some things, and she lent me and gave me some things, and there was another church that just gave me a bunch of their stuff. Then the best part, I also found a church that had theirs after mine that I was able to pass my things on to, and then they in turn passed it all on to another church.

So anyone especially close or in the Chapel Hill area, contact me. I love to share!

Hey, Allison.
I'm in Hillsborough, but my vbs is the same as yours, except we go from Sun through Thurs, june 22-26. I would love to share ideas, though!
I was looking for lab coats and/or scrub tops for our kids to wear. Our craft person asked if we could get scrub tops for the kids to decorate and wear that week. Any ideas on something to get that's not too expensive?

Hello jcaustin in Hillsborough,

I'm disappointed that your VBS is not after mine, so that I can pass on some things to you. I hope I can find someone to share with.

Not sure what to tell you about cheap lab coats or scrubs. I've read some things on the forum about people ordering inexpensive labs coats. You could search "lab coats" and see what was posted about them.

We are not having coats or shirts for the kids this year. However, we have done that in the past. What I have done is on the first day of VBS, I sent home a note on a brightly colored piece of copier paper telling parents that on the third day we will be painting shirts and have your child bring a plain white Tshirt to VBS on that day. Of course we also had extras incase someone forgot or couldn't get to the store, or couldn't afford one. We did that for years, and I never had any parent complain about having to provide a plain Tshirt for their child. Some parents would even go out and buy a package of three shirts and donate the other two (that's how we would end up with extras). Those were usually the parents who were also part of my VBS staff. We would paint shirts on the third day so they could dry overnight and be taken home on the fourth day, and then everyone could wear them on the last day. All in all, it is a very inexpensive way to do shirts.

Hello Allison,

I am located in Turkey, NC which is about an hour East of Wilmington.  I am interested in your Power Lab materials.  I am looking to having our VBS mid-July.  I will be willing to drive to Chapel Hill.  My hubby just took on a new church and they were not even going to have VBS until we came along so you can imagine what the budget is like.  I will gladly accept whatever you may have and are willing to pass along. You can email me at bambiemassey@yahoo.com if you would like.  I am interested to know what kinds of things you will have available.

Serving Him,

Bambie

Where is Garner?  I will be in Western NC doing a VBS there the end of June, and could give you my leftovers.

Hey Bonnie,

I am located in Turkey, which is about an hour from you.  My mom lives in Clayton and I used to work in Garner.  Allison in Chapel Hill has been gracious enough to donate her decorations.  We are having our PL July 8-12.  I would be more than happy to pass the decor on to you after we finished.  Allison has been such a blessing to us and it would be my honor to be a blessing to your church.  I am not sure what all she has though, she is suppose to be getting me a list together.  However I do know she has the 6ft Fizz stand-up as well as the giant beaker.  Please feel free to email me and we can work together in some things.  Oh yeah, Allison just sent me the clip art cd today and when I am finished with it I would be more than happy to pass that along to you as well.

We are south of Garner and our Powerlab is June 23rd- 27th. We started sets on Thursday & have a decorating party Saturday May 31st & team training June 7th.

We are praying that more adults will step forward to be Crew leaders. We have half of the 42 people needed. Praise God all other positions are taken!

What are your praises and prayer requests?
