| I was wondering if anyone knew where to get a hot knife from or something cheap that works well too... I am looking for it to cut the foam for our decorations....
If anyone in the TRIAD area of North Carolina has one they wouldn't mine loaning out for a few days that would be AWESOME!
P.S. I'm new here so I guess I did this right... let me know if I didn't. |

| | Hobby Lobby has small hot knives that are just a small, thin, metal wand that heats and melts the foam. Cost is around $20. Our church is on our 3rd one, because they break very easily. I would not suggest wasting your money on these. The "Supplies 4 Candles" site has a hot knife that is like a real knife and is much better. You have to play with it, and the heat settings to get the hang of how it cuts and how hot you need it. Prices range from $57-$77, but believe me, it is worth the money if you are going to be cutting alot of foam. The link for their hot knives is below: http://www.supplies4candles.com/group.asp?grp=188 Barb - Mathiston FBC, Mathiston, MS

| You might also want to try using a search for "hot knife". I know there have been several good threads about that.

| | I think on the DVD it suggests http://hotwirefoamfactory.com/home.php Hobby stores that sell train stuff have them too. We opted not to buy one. We looked at them and decided the cheap ones would not work on thick foam (last year). Then we kept hearing how they break, and our budget is not up for an expensive one. We are using 1" foam (like Tuff R or similar) and will cut it with a knife. Our budget isn't into the big thick foam either. We have heated a large kitchen knife over a flame before and used it for smaller stuff. The smell of melted sytrofoam is awful. |
