| | Help! We are a very small church plant borrowing a 3 room historic church to do a VBS for around 50 kids. We're borrowing decorations and lots of materials from a huge church in the area (praises for that!) but are throwing this together at the last minute because our director's had a family emergency .Needless to say, we are stressed to the max! :: We plan to do our VBS Sunday June 22 - Thursday June 26, with Thursday being the parents night so no curriculum that night. We were forced to decide which of the days to drop so are NOT doing Day 1/Thankfulness and are saving that to do with our kids' ministry around Thanksgiving. So our Day 1 (Sunday) is Jesus makes the blind man see, Day 2 is Peter walking on the water, Day 3 is Jesus saves, and Day 4 is Pentecost. Because of space and time constraints, we are combining Cinema Science and the Tasty Treats so the kids can sit and watch Chadder. It only occurred to me today after reading some posts that that may not work because we will never have watched Day 1. Each episode doesn't stand alone? Can anyone direct us to how to best deal with this? Would it be better to not even deal with the Cinema Science? One more question while I have everyone's attention would be this: Our Bible blast storyteller is SUPERB at telling tales and keeping the kids attention. The area he will be in, (the choir loft -- flat floor but pretty narrow) however, is not very large. It's my understanding that the 'set' of this area changes nightly. What else is involved in this area and how much movement is required? The only other location available is outside under a tarp and that doesn't seem ideal at all. I'd be grateful for any guidance anyone can give, and of course it goes without saying that we covet your prayers as we step out of the boat into this adventure!! Jude 21, Wendy in Tennessee |

| | You could watch the final Chadder clip at the parent night. As far as the set for Bible Blast - just hang colored sheets to make your village and use cardboard boxes for the boat. Angela |

| Praying for your VBS program. We combine games and snacks The kids are always hungry after a game or two. For Chadder I would play day 1 and day 2 on the same day that way they get the whole story. They only take a few minutes. Then do the science part that goes with the story for that day.
God Bless

| Since your first day is on a Sunday, could you extend it 5-10 minutes so you could show the day 1 chadder clip to the group during the opening sonic sing & play time? The kids don't always know as many songs the first night plus you don't have as many bible points to review. You might be able to just go a few minutes later. I would find a way to show it because it will set the whole story up.

| Sorry to post again but I had another idea. If your vbs kids are primarily from your church, another alternative would be to show the day 1 clip that morning during their church school time. I know a few might miss it but I know we have new kids the second night and the other kids can fill them in on what happened in the day 1 segment. (Your chadder station leader could also quickly review it.)

| Similar to your VBS, our day 5 is a Family and Fellowship picnic. So we don't do all the stations. We have a brief ending ceremony where we all sing the songs with our band, see the final installment of the Wilma skit and then we show the final installment of the Chadder video to the entire group. That way, the parents get a good flavor of VBS and the kids see the end of the story. Then we all go enjoy a picnic and each other's company.
