If you did not follow the Group suggestion for snack what did you provide for the children?

I was thinking of making a trail mix one day for the kids but we are at a loss for other ideas. We have too many allergies in our group to do some of the ideas presented.

Can anyone offer their ideas?

I don't know the scope of the allergies you are dealing with, but if the cookie is the problem on Day 1, you could use frosting to "glue" candies to a plate to make the face. Maybe carrot sticks w/ dip on Day 2 (because carrots are good for our eyes) but I don't know how well carrots would go over. Goldfish crackers would be a given on Day 3 since there are fish in the sea. You could use other food - pretzel sticks - to make a cross on Day 4. Someone else provided a nice S'mores type alternative for Day 4 in this section of the forum. Day 5, you could use bugle snacks because they look like little megaphones which are used so that we can be better heard by others. There's another thread w/ a link to "healthy alternatives" that might be useful to you. We have some children w/ allergies, but not so many that we're not able to just give those children an alternative snack or substitute for or leave off the offending food. Good luck! I'm sure others will have more creative ideas than mine!

I also have 4 kids with allergies at my church. The snack that I do every week [and am also doing for Power Lab] is homemade sugar cookies made with Lactaid instead of milk. We

are doing Power Lab each Sunday. Since our Bible Buddy was Fizz a test tube. I enlarged a test tube graphic. Then I layed a clear plastic mat over the graphic and used a sharpie to trace the test tube shape. I just layed the plastic shape on my cookie dough and cut out the cookies. After they were baked I frosted them with white frosting and put 3 Skittles on

each one like bubbles. The kids loved them. This week I will do a light bulb shape for Sparki. I have kids that are peanut allergic, and lactose intolerant. I do a plain unfrosted

cookie for him each week. Hope that helps. Debbie in Oregon
