Please pray for our VBS. We are a small church and have had some problems keeping young families involved.  We were expecting (hoping) for 40 kids and had 22 on the first day. I had to do some combining of crews and things turned out okay BUT we have put so much work and time into Power Lab. We want more kids to experience this wonderful program. Pray that those that attend will enjoy themselves and learn more about Jesus. Pray that our workers (we outnumbered the kids) will not get discouraged & pray that those that attended today will bring some friends. While I know that God has plans for our VBS and church it is hard not to be discouraged after working so hard. Thanks for all the support this forum provides!

God Bless, Cindy

Praying for you and your VBS program. Do not be discouraged. Jesus had blessed you with 22 children eager to experience Power lab and learn about Jesus. With all the volunteers the kids will get a lot of attention and will be made to feel special. I do the decorating for our VBS and usually go over board but I do it because I love doing it. We are a small church, too. We only have two children in Sunday School but God blessed us with 25 kids last year for AR. What a blessing for our church and our volunteers said the kids made them feel blessed. They all volunteered to do it again this year.

God Bless
Kathy

I'll be praying that God would provide more kids at your Power Lab VBS. How did Tuesday's numbers look?

Cindy, I suggest you find some time to have a pep talk with your staff, preferably before VBS starts. Say a quick prayer for them and then encourage them (and yourself) by reminding them that this is ALL for the Lord. That this will ALL be worth it even if one child attends and receives Jesus as his savior and friend. Tell them that Jesus suffered quite a bit and paid a GREAT price for the salvation of humanity. And he would have done it even if there was one soul (point to one of them) to save.

All the hard work, dedication and faithfulness is not to be commended by man, but by the Lord who will richly reward you if you do it wholeheartedly. I will pray for more children to come and that you all have a BLAST! But I will pray more fervently for the Spirit of God to move mightily and that lives are changed as a result of your obedience to Him who is able to increase you in all things. Yes, even if ONE soul responds everything will be as planned (by God).

Be encouraged and strengthened so you can transmit that same passion to your workers and the kids. Expect great things from little. Remember, Jesus is an expert on that!

Thank you all for your prayers and encouragement. Our numbers have stayed about the same: 22 Tues and 23 today. The good news is everyone has come back! I had one parent, who is a church member but doesnt attend often, tell me his son liked this VBS better than the one he attended last week at another church (there were 130 in attendance there!) So I know that bigger isnt necessarily better. Our kids are loving the music, crafts, snacks and everything. We are looking forward to tomorrow's eternity message & praying that our children will be open to hearing God's plan for them. Please pray that we will share the gospel with them in a way they can understand. I am not discouraged and have many ideas to grow our program for next year.

Thank you for your support, Cindy

I'm glad that the kids are liking the program and having fun. You can definitely work on the number of kids next year with Crocodile Dock.

Four years ago I was new the area and a neighbor invited my children to attend vbs. It was so much fun I ended up helping out! We also started attending the church the following Sunday and later became members.

This year I directed our vbs  and we just finished Power Lab last week. It was a wonderful week and so much fun! Our numbers were down by 30 kids from last year and I felt like I had done something wrong. Although we were all discouraged the Lord still had plans for our VBS.

I received an email the day after our vbs ended and a co worker of one of our congregation members asked me if they could use some of our things for their Power Lab next month. She said they have a new church and meet in the local school building. I met her at our church and we filled her van to overflowing. She took everything - crafts and all. Before she left I asked her how many kids they were expecting. Her answer - 30!

I look at it like this. Yes, we put a ton of work into our vbs and we would love to have had a larger turn out (we averaged about 40 each day) but the work we did made it easier (and cheaper!) for another group of people to touch the lives of children and spread His word.

I looked through all the registration forms (64 total) and discovered that there were 11 children who did not have a church home. Most of those 11 came back every single night!

You never know what the Lord has up His sleeves!

Don't be discouraged the Lord knows what He is doing!
