| I'm so glad to hear that the bubble solution worked well for some of you, because it didn't for my preschool games leaders! Maybe they were lifting the hula hoop too fast...I don't know. I mixed it up the day before, using the glycerine recipe, but unfortunately, because of building going on at our church, we have limited space right now & I had to have the pool outside. I thought it might be the Florida humidity that did the bubbles in. The bubble would kind of collapse in on itself about a foot or so up. If you continued to lift the hula hoop up, you would get a really cool bubble, but at that point, it would have been way over a preschooler's head. They let the kids blow bubbles w/ stuff I found after running around the church in search of anything w/ a loop! I really wanted to leave the bubble solution in the pool to sit awhile & see if it would improve w/ age (plus, after mixing 3 recipes of it & lugging it to the pool outside, I wanted to bottle some of it!), but when I came back to the preschool games area, one of the leaders told me he'd dumped the pool for me so that I wouldn't have to. I tried to put on my best appreciative face while inside I was thinking, "Nooooo!!!" I definitely would like to try to do this one again w/ a string wrapped hula hoop when we have a "water blast" day towards the end of the summer. In fact, I got the "bubble machine" directions & now just need to get someone to build it. I appreciate all who are giving tips & letting us know how it went for them.

| Our preschool games leader had no problem with her bubble solution. We mixed it according to Groups recipe. She did hers indoors and had no problems. Our elementary games were outside. We had a very windy day. They had trouble with the bubbles, but eventually learned they had to pull the hula hoop up fast to get it to work. This is definitely a prepare ahead and have time to practice. Same goes for the walking on water in Bible adventure.

| | You have to pull the hula hoop up quickly. I tried using the cinder black but it was too large and was popping the bubbles. The kids were more than happy to take off their shoes and step in. We put a towel down where they stood in the pool to avoid any slipping. Our pools were near a water hose and we just sprayed their feet as they finished. It was awesome. we had a little wind but our game leader got the kids to stand shoulder to shoulder close around the pool to form a "wall". |

| | I have a question. Do you think the hula hoop could be wrapped in cotton yarn? I don't have that much string, but I have tons of yarn. Thanks, Jennifer |

| I think that the cotton is the key. Would the yarn stretch when it got wet, though? That could be really bad. I did wrap the hula hoop TIGHTLY. It's a solid wrap all the way around.

| | Hi Missy Elaine here - have you done the experiments for the day one game with the giant bubbles? has anyone determined the ratio for this? I thinkthat thanks to this forum, I have finally figured out the bible blast day 3 cornstarch solution! I am just going to add water SLOWLY to the cornstarch, mix in little batches then add to the big container once I find the 'right consistency', whatever that is????? I am going to make it earlier in the day - let it set (outside) with the cover on, and check it before VBS starts and add a little water if I have to. Suggestions on these two things? Thanks - blessings - Elaine |

| We made several batches of the bubble solution per Group's recipe and it worked great. I would recommend that you mix it 24 hours ahead of time and do it in a bucket. Then when you are ready pour it in the pool wherever you are going to use it. When we did our batches we mixed them up 1 gallon at a time and did multiple batches instead of making one big batch. It was so much fun we decided to use it again at our end of VBS party.

| | Jason, that's a good point. I also mixed mine (using the glycerin recipe listed in this thread) a week ahead, but in two clean buckets with tight fitting lids (got them at Tractor Supply). So we had it sealed up for the week. After a couple of days in the pool, it didn't work so well anymore. Definitely use the buckets for mixing!
