I am concerned that 6 crackers and cheese might not be enough- I was thinking about offering the flour tortilla alternative- but choices are sometimes trouble...Any one have any experience with this?

I thought it was a little light as well and was thinking about adding some green grapes as filler -

I think a lot depends on when you have your VBS.  If you have it in the morning, it's probably fine, just a little midmorning snack.  But, if you're like us and have it around dinnertime (we run 5-8 in the evening), yeah, it's probably a little light.  Our VBS is small (about 40-50 kids), so we supplement the snack every night -- we do the VBS snack and something a little heftier, like peanut butter sandwiches one night, ham sandwiches another night, pigs in a blanket another night, etc.

This year is the first year that we have decided to give the children a snack that is not the suggested snack.  However, for day 4 we wanted to keep the cross, so we decided to use large sugar cookies from Wal-Mart and put icing in a cross shape with colored sugar sprinkled on them.  We live in Hanover, PA (AKA: Snacktown) - home to Utz, Snyders of Hanover and many other snack food companies.  We have members of our congregation who work for some of these companies.  We were able to get bags of pretzels, chips, animal crackers, etc. donated or at employee prices.

We did this snack today, it was very popular.  Very few leftovers and no complaints about not enough snack.

It was one of our kids favorite snacks as well.  They loved using the can cheese.  We did have extra M & M's from the cookie treat day, so we gave that to the kids as well.

Because we serve dinner, our team does the snack as a dessert. Today, they substituted vanilla wafers and used chocolate syrup instead of cheese.
