I was on a field trip to my local Public Works; it's National Public Works Week, don't you know?

Anyway, in the dumpster that we walked past was a huge cardboard spool (44" across by 32" high) that carried lengths of hose up until yesterday.  So I talked my tour guide into giving it to me "for the kids".

So now what do I do with it to make it look "Power Lab-ish" and take up alot of space in my entryway to the hall where we have the opening/closing each day?

I was thinking of spraypainting it black and attaching pool noodles around it to look like a hose, with a sign saying something like "Wind your way toward Jesus".  Too corny?

Thanks for any other (better, I'm sure!) ideas!

I took 3 of these off the curb about 2 weeks ago, they are smaller, and held wire, but stacked with chaser lights they should go great in my mad scientist lab!

Hi everyone,

We finished our P/L week!  Thought you'd like to see how the spool turned out.  The chaser lights on the spool wound around the front door and the yellow "bulb" on the floor lamp blinked off and on.  The kids were more excited about the bubbles in the trash can and the fog machine in the CAL-TRANS dumpster, but it all added to a great entrance.

How did you make the ooze coming out of the trash can?  I love it!
