| | Has anyone tried making the atoms from pipe cleaners and pom poms? They are smaller scale than the hula hoops ones, but if we make a lot of them, I am hoping for some impact in the hallways of the church. let me know if anyone has made them that way. |

| I haven't tried pipe cleaners to make the atoms, but love that idea. I used foam and brads. I've attached a picture. I plan to hang them in a hallway. They must hang in order to keep their shape. Thanks for the idea!

| | We used pipe cleaners and plastic golf balls (12/$1 at Big Lots). The pipe cleaners didn't hold their shape as well. We also used small dowels with the golf balls for molecules. Both were fine for what we are doing. We also tried reshaping metal hangars, which wasn't bad either, especially if you take a little time with it. I liked the plastic golf balls since they are cheap and you can poke holes in them very easily. Liz |

| We used the balls like ones in ball pits and wooden skewers. It was so inexpensive.

| Awesome idea! I found some of those balls at a yard sale (3 gallon bags full for .25 per bag). Think I am going to go buy some skewers!!

| | We use skwers also--but instead of the balls we use pool noodles!! GOt the ones shape like flowers!! 1st we painted the skewers (black looks the best). THen we cut the noodles into thick chuncks(about 2inches long). We made 28 atoms so we cut 28 chuncks--Then we cut the rest of the noodles into 1 inch chuncks--SInce they were the flower shape we then cut each petals into a circle- Put circle pieces onto most not all skewers, then put the skewers about 12-14 into the large chuncks!! We had 4 packs skewers, 4 pool noodles cost $8 and we got 28 atoms!! We have 2 hanging at church at the VBS table--durning VBS they will cover our sancuary ceiling!! Blessings, Jenn in PA |
