| | Here's my question... I run a VBS program for kids ages 3-6 and we are currently looking into doing Croc Dock. Can I just purchase the Preschool Director Guide and not purchase the regular directors guide? What's included in the Preschool Director's book?

| | The preschool director's book is used as an overview of the program's preschool level. There are also preschool leader books for Chadder's, crafts, bible stories, games, and Operation Kid 2 Kid information. There are some stations that double up, but I'm not sure which they'll put together. You wouldn't have the snacks, songs or finale materials. I bet you're planning to do this for just the preschoolers, and that could probably be worked out with the director's book, but it will take a lot of figuring out. If you like the theme, could you get whoever works with the elementary age kids to join in to get the whole starter kit? If not, you may be able to get someone to pass just what you need when they're through with their starter kit. That way, you could get just the preschool director's book for most of your planning, and then get the additional resources when you absolutely have to have them. Good luck planning!

| All the books are available for individual purchase. (Or at least that's how it's been in the past). So you can buy just what you need.

| | Well I'm Catholic and there is a Catholic program called Totus Tuus...which is kind of like Bible School but there is a team of people who come from out of town and run the program for the week. (Personally, I find it kind of bland; no theme, decorations, music, etc.) But, it's only for kids and teens grades 1-12 so we like to offer something for the preschoolers too. Would it be just eaiser to purchase the entire starter kit vs. buying stuff stuff individually? Do you think I can just use the preschool book with the books from the starter kit and make our program that way? Do preschool books come in the starter kit too?

| Preschool books do come in the starter kit, but the starter kit may have way too much stuff for what you want and it's a lot more expensive. Yes, its great for someone running a VBS with all the stations, but buying the starter kit just to do the preschool is overkill I think.
Take a look at Group's site and see what the individual manuals you think you might want to use are and compare that to the starter kit price. The manuals from this year are listed here and would give you an idea: http://store.grouppublishing.com/OA_HTML/gpCCtpSctDspRte.jsp?section=16364
The starter kit for Crocodile Dock is listed here:

| | Matt, If you were only going to use the Preschool materials for Crocodile Dock, you would need: - Preschool Director's Manual -$12.99*
- Sing & Play Swamp Stomp Music CD or DVD -$6.99 for CD; $19.99 for DVD*
- Preschool Chadder DVD - $19.99*
- Sing & Play Swamp Stomp Leader Manual -$9.99*
- Firefly Finale Leader Manual -$9.99*
- Snack Shack Leader Manual -$9.99*
- Preschool Craft & Play Leader Pack - $9.99*
- Preschool Games Leader Pack -$9.99*
- Preschool Bible Adventures & Missions Leader Pack - $9.99*
- Preschool Chadder's Theater Leader Pack - $9.99*
- Operation Kid-to Kid Posters - $9.99*
*Prices from Group's Power Lab VBS 2008 These would be the basic essential materials that you would need for a Preschool Crocodile Dock program. Your total for the basic items is $132.89 with the Music DVD and $119.89 with the Music CD. You'd be better off buying the starter kit but you're not going to need all of the items in it. My advice would be to buy the Preschool Director's Manual when it is available in February and start your planning and preparations from that. Then when other VBS Directors are done with their Crocodile Dock programs in June, buy the needed items for your Crocodile Dock VBS. If you used this approach, you would have to have your Crocodile Dock VBS in July or August. God Bless, Josh T. in Ohio

| I suppose it's possible but I don't think he'd need the Sing and Play, Finale, or Snack manual. It sounds like he's just doing a smaller preschool program and so these items may not be necessary. And unless he's doing Kid to Kid he wouldn't need the posters (and even if he was doing it he wouldn't "need" the posters to do it).
Matt,
I'd suggest seeing if you can borrow the manuals from this year so you know what is included in each and what parts you'll want to do so you'll know what manuals you'll need next year.

| | Well right now we are expecting our numbers to be around 50-75 preschoolers. I'm thinking we will just buy the entire kit, that way we have everything we would need. Thanks for your help! Matt
