We were using FaithWeaver for several years prior to switching to LIO last Fall.  The change has been the most challenging for our preschool group.  We have made some adjustments that have helped but still haven't gotten to a place where our Preschool Teacher/Coordinator really feels the lessons are connecting with the children.

The last piece of the "puzzle" in her mind is the take home page for preschoolers.  She really liked the Bible Hug pages from FW.  Since LIO seems to have a mix of lessons themes (some are weighed more heavily to character development and others to a bible story) there have been times when it would have been nice to have the activity page/side of the paper similar to the Bible Hugs.  Since preschoolers really can't read...our suggestion is to maybe condense the Daily Challenge and home activities to one side and give an activity sheet on the other side.  We did use the Bible Hug Activity sheet every week but it was nice to have.  This might also help for those that do like to color, cut, glue when the week's lesson has no activity like that.

Thanks, Cindy, for the feedback! I know we won't be making a change like this to Group's Living Inside Out right now, but we'll consider it for the future.

In the meantime, I wonder if Coloring Creations (check it out at http://store.grouppublishing.com/OA_HTML/ibeCCtpItmDspRte.jsp?item=27709&section=10666) might be a help to you. You'd have to check out the Table of Contents (which you can see online) to note where you'd have stories that match.

Keep sharing your ideas. We love hearing from you! God bless you and your ministry.

I have been adding a simple craft to both Preschool and Lower Elementary from time to time, mainly because that part of the session can go on longer than planned depending on how long the pastor preaches. For instance, 2 Sundays ago (week 3 of Treasure Island - the widow's mites) these two classes made little boxes to save their coins in for offering during the week. I got 3 x 3 gift boxes from Michael's crafts in which we cut slits in the lid. The kids stuck on fun foam stickers, and a small slip of paper I had printed off on the computer with the theme verse. Other times I have used the craft-type suggestion from the back of the take-home page and did it in class.

I also give preschool a coloring page every week (mostly from a non-Group source, sorry) stapled to the front of the LIO take-home page. Even if they do not color it in class, it still goes home, either a picture of the Bible story or a picture related to the Bible verse when there is no "story."
