Here are some ideas from others about decorating and activities for Treasure Island.

I thought I might share an idea I am going to try as we begin the Treasure Island module, with the theme of "giving" (great, since we are going into the Thanksgiving & Christmas season!!!).  I have created a fun 3-D backdrop that relates to the tropical island theme, and found a cute wooden "treasure chest" at Hobby Lobby.  Each week, as we begin our lesson, I will ask the kids to name things that would be considered "treasures" on an island and why they would be treasures.  Then I will ask one child to come forward and open the treasure chest and find one of the following items each week:coconuts for nourishment, palm trees for shade (I will have a note telling them where to look for the inflatable palm tree), hammock to rest away from the ground and fresh water since they would be surrounded by salt water.  The Bible Point will be attached in some way to the item and will be shown to the rest of the kids, and then posted on the backdrop as a continual reminder each week.

And from another church:

We also used a treasure box but we added a missions theme and filled it with cards with pictures of kids on the front and information about their country on the back. We pull out a card from the box that reads God treasures kids around the world and take a moment to talk about the country and pray for the children in that country. This went really well with the theme of giving our talents and time and money for God's kingdom
