I was looking for small notebooks to make our own journals out of. I found that the mini leagal pads (you know the yellow tablets) only cost around 35cent each. They are slightly larger thatn the ones I was looking for, but alot cheaper. I hadn't even thought about them as an option. I don't know if we are going to go with them, but they are a viable option.

I am going to do a bonus craft picture frame.  It is pretty easy.  I found white photo mats at ssww.com and we will put a label on them with this year's theme, date and church's name.  I am going to cut up various pieces of black sticky foam that can be put on the frames to make them look like cow spots (similar to the photo frame craft from Serengeti Trek.)  We take crew photos digitally and have them printed in batches at Sam's Club.  If you want a day 5 craft, you can take the pics the day before and have them ready to go in the frames on the last day as a great take home.

We are making windchimes using old silverware as the chime part -- dads are busy drilling holes in the handles, and we're finally cleaning out all those "lost and found" pieces from dinners in 1968

Joanna

What will you use to tie the strings of silverware to at the top?  I am thinking of using old keys because there's a good resource for them at church.  Thanks!

One idea I did look at for a substitute for the sheriff badge is:  Joann's Fabric or Michaels have a wooden badge for 25 cents. You could decorate these in many ways.  I thought maybe outline them with marker and then print a small label of some sort with the verse or thought for the day or a decorative foamie, slip a self-stick magnet on the back for a frig magnet.  I've seen the stores put these on sale from time to time for 5 or 6 for a $1.00.

I just got through reading another group of postings and I see the idea for the Michael's wooden stars was already posted - sorry about that.  Like minds think alike.

I found a way to get a bandana slide and wooden star in the same craft.

On the first day when you give out the bandana or when you make your bandana give them a round clothes pin as their holder/slide. then on the last day when they ar done making their sheriff badges out of the wooden stars, you can hot glue them to the round clothes pin and then you don't have to have a stick pin to put them on their shirt. I have included pictures of the round clothes pins and wooden stars. I found both items at Walmart for very little money.

I will try to include a picture of the finished project later this afternoon.
