| | I am so excited! I announced our VBS website at church Sunday morning and really didin't get any response about it except for our Youth Pastor. We don't have a church website and hardly anyone emails each other so, I was skeptical about the response and participation. I have had 2 very busy days at work and have not been online since Sunday afternoon and today I checked and had one child sign up! So now my son is not the only one signed up (I used him as a test subject). Still no volunteers on it yet, but I have a volunteer sheet posted at church and slowly those spaces are getting filled up. I had to turn away a teen that wanted to be Games Leader. He's only 12 and I know it's too big of a job for him. But I praise God for his enthusiasm and wish others would be as excited.

| | We opened Toy Box up to the congregation by announcing the link in the bulletin and our online newsletter this week - 24 kids and 6 volunteers so far. It works! Kirsten

| Our announcement and web link will be in this Sunday's bulletin, so I'm anxious to see what happens as well!

| | Congrats! Maybe your 12 year old could be a Volunteer-In-Training partnered with an older volunteer and help to carry equipment, model the actions, and so on! That way he would feel involved, and when he's older he will still want to volunteer. |

| | Last year Kyle (and my other 6th graders) were crew leaders and he really had a good time. I told him that he could possible help a Station leader or be a crew leader again. He wanted to lead the games--I've had three boys his age ask for this position---But NO adults as of yet. One 7th grade girl who was a crew leader this year signed up to teach one night's lesson, I also had to turn her down, but told her she could be my helper when I teach the lesson I signed up for. She also agreed to be a crew leader again on the other nights.

| You know the kids so you'll know which can handle it. I will say that my similar experience last year couldn't have gone any better. I didn't have anyone step up for games so I paired up two 6th grade girls. The one is on the small side and I wondered whether the kids would listen to her. Those two girls were amazing. They'd finish their games and then come in and help with the snacks (we do a games/snack rotation). It actually turned out to be one of my pleasant surprises for the week!
