The second time we met one young lady told me, " I hope my mansion in heaven is right across the street from yours." (Top that)

Wow, that's fuel in a youth leaders tank.

I remember kneeling on the floor next to a toilet, holding a girl's hair back as she vomited into the flush.  She was one of those kids who are both very sweet, but very trying on the nerves.  After she was finished, she looked up at me and told me, "You treat me better than my own Mom ever did."

How do you answer that one?

I went through a lot of kleenex late that night!

Blessings,

Pastor Alisha

I'm a Youth Leader, single & don't have any kids. Last Sunday at Mothers Day service, the youths came up to me and gave me lots of hugs, and my mother's day message was, "Happy Mother's Day - you're a Mother to us Youths".... I was so blessed, I was in tears the whole service.
God is good, all the time!

Actually, it was a parent of one of my junior high ministry students, who told me what her son said about me and wanted to brag on me... Last week she told me that her son was entering into his school's Junior Achievement program. And in order to be considered, he had to write an essay on what it means to be a leader. So when she asked him how he was going to come up with what to write, he said, "Well, mom, if I'm going to write about a leader, it would have to be Miss Karen. Because she's hands down the best I've ever had in my life."
She felt it was necessary for me to know how much he looks up to me being that he is quite shy and would probably never tell me face to face. I felt so honored for her to tell me. I don't require recognition or reward for what I do, but it sure feels great knowing what an impact you have and knowing how your are being used by God.

Been doing this youth ministry thing for 20 years now, but I'll never forget when my mentor into youth ministry let me try my hand at my first service. It was the closing service to a week of Jr. Highers down a canoe trip. I had all of the students line up, sitting on the bank of the river, and all of the youth sponsors washed the feet of them. Two years later got a letter in the mail saying that he had accepted Jesus into his heart that hot afternoon. You never know what and when a youth will be touched by a simple act of service. uthguy
