| | We are planning a whole night prayer for our youth this coming Friday. I would like to get views on how to stress the importance of it such that they get to understand the significance of it. I am open to ideas as to how other youth leaders get around the preparation and how they run the prayer the whole night. How do you keep them from falling asleep and being lazy? What are prayer strategies to use, and how do you get them to understand prayer? How do you teach them to pray earnestly?
Not that we loved Him, but HE Loved us first. |

| Here's what I do... I have a powerpoint of about 1-15 prayer topics (spiritual apathy teens, abortions, understanding and wisdom, ect.), I also have our ministry vision/mission, and upcoming events.
I then have the student get a mic and pray about whatever on the powerpoint and /or whatever God places in their heart... I usually start it off.
Maybe have worship in the background... either a worship cd or the worship band. Try incorporating scriptures into the prayers... "HARP AND BOWL STYLE OF WORSHIP"
We usually go for about 2-3 hours... The kids say it helps them develop a great prayer life and shows them how to pray effectively.

| Hi. Although this is not a whole night of prayer, it might be a useful starter for your group and help young people to engage in prayer for themselves, their friends, their community, their nation and the world. 'People of Prayer' is a creative evening for young people using simple activities and visual prompts. I've used it several times and it works really well. You can check it out on my blog Insight. You'll find other free stuff and ideas there too.
