| | Dear VBS family. I've been out of touch with most of you as my life spins with the issues of securing services for my son with Autism. I hadn't heard from Justin in a long while and the other day we happen to connect briefly with a quick email. He was doing well but the family had some more challenges with funerals and such. He told me some great things about school and his government volunteering and that he would be traveling. This morning I woke to read a very sad email from him. Here is a piece of what he said. Please Pray for him and his family/area. I just wanted to send out a quick email to let everyone know that I am okay. Yesterday, Greensburg, Kansas (where I live) was hit by a very large major tornado. I have been in Salina with the high school Forensics team. We planned to compete in the state tournament today, but we need to get home as soon as possible. I finally got a hold of my family back home. Everyone is fine but we have lost everything including transportation. Marshall Law has been declared so we are unable to get with in 30 miles of home. At 9:00 am we will leave Salina and head to Pratt, KS in hopes of meeting up with family. There are rescue stations set up in Haviland and Mullinville. I most likely will stay in Kinsley. Please keep my family and fellow students in your thoughts and prayers. You can go onto KAKE.com or KWCH.com to learn more about the storm. Over 60% of the town is gone.

| | Growing up in the Carribean I am too familiar with the devastation that these forces of nature can cause. My family survived 3 major hurricanes that wiped out 80 - 90% of the island. I will be praying for Justin, his family and all those affected by these storms that are so common down in the SW. I am glad to hear that they are all fine and that in spite of the loss he is in good spirits. Nevertheless I know that tragedy can be very emotional and devastating. I have met people who go insane after loosing all that they have accumulated over the years. Very view find peace in just knowing that they are alive and with the opportunity to start all over again. Then again, only those whose Father is the Lord can have such hope because they know that He will never fail them.

Partnering with parents to "TRAIN" up our children in the way they should go! |
