Our church has always had 4 different age groups.  I was wondering when you group your younger and older children together what about your crafts?  We go with different ones for the younger and more difficult ones for our older ones?  Can anyone explain how it is done when you mix the age group.  We had a meeting last night and I was telling the person about how they group the kids together and she said she would like to know how they do the crafts?  We are not having our VBS til Aug. but I wanted to start meetings and did not get a good response last night at all.  We do have 2 work shops in June and I hope I will get the help.  Our VBS is very small but you still need people to help with things.

The help I have received from this group has been so much help Thank You so much.

For us, everyone does the same craft.  Some kids are more crafty than others, regardless of their age, so it's never been a problem.  If the older ones get done more quickly, they can help the younger ones.  The crafts that Group offers have all been tested with real kids at a real VBS, so they work great!

What we find most of the time is that the kids who take the longest on the craft are the older ones!  More meticulous, I guess.  But the crew leaders have questions to ask as the kids are working and things that they can discuss.  So it's not only craft time, it's also missions.

That's one of the things I love about the posters that Group provides.  Kids can always wander over and read or look at the maps, etc. if they get done early!

We have 2 groups of kids... 1) children going into 3/4yr old preK (Prairie Dog Preschoolers)  2) children going into K - 4th grades.  I lead the crafts for the preschool children last year and will be doing so again this year.  We use some of the same crafts for preschoolers.  Sometimes it is necessary to have some of the preschoolers craft already done.  The crafts for the K-4th graders are all the same.  Remember, the crew leaders and station leaders are there to help as well so if younger kids need help there is help available.

Hey everybody, I am new at this but I just found a cool site for kids crafts.  The website is http://www.craftsforkids.com/, I haven't seen anybody mention it.  There are a few things that could be used for this VBS but there are a lot of things that could be used for children's church and sunday school.  I wanted to let everyone in on it.
