At a recent get-together for women in leadership at my church, I was struck by the excitement about some of the events, studies, etc., being planned for the next six months.  It just got me thinking...what are other women in other churches excited about?  What is working?  What "gaps" do you feel?

We are wanting to start a minitry to single women in our church.  We will meet one night a month, have a special meal and ministry time for the mothers while the children are being ministered to and fed in another part of the building (that would be my part since I do children's ministry).  It would be an awesome time to pamper women who very seldom take time for themselves.

That sounds great!  Have you ever taken a look at Girlfriends Unlimited???  There are AWESOME monthly experience guides released each month, which would work SO well.  If you'd like a sample, email me at slawrence@groupra.com.

And if you are wanting pampering, check out the new Simply Relevant Heart Spa study...great Bible study with pampering incorporated (and you can even add more than the study includes!).

So, are you finding women attending are mainly from your church, or are you also getting some from the community?  And who all works on the planning team...women's team and children's team???

Sounds great!  Single women need one another and need support and encouragement on an ongoing basis.  Thank you for meeting their needs!

We actually have not started it yet.  I have a lady who has a heart for woman's ministry who I have talked to about it.  I do Children's Ministry and would like to have the opportunity to minister to the children at the same time.  Lots of issues kids being raised without a father figure need to have the opportunity to deal with.  I think it would be an awesome time to reach both the mothers & the kids.

Women's and Children's Ministries are so interconnected in so many situations!  In fact, I find many women who began in Children's Ministry step into Women's Ministry at some point!  Really, when we reach our children, we are also reaching moms!  And as we build those relationships with women, we become invested in their lives!!!

I'm excited to hear more as your plans continue!  Do you have a date for your first event?

That is so true.  I hope we are able to begin in the fall.  We really  haven't set a date.  We are just discussing the idea at this point.  I will let you know when we actually set a date.  God bless,  Angie

I am REALLY excited about our Ladies' Ministry outlook! In meeting with my leadership team, we decided that we had become to "inside" focused, so we've restructured everything!

Once a month we have a Fourth Friday Fun night (that stayed the same), but now we have four different types of activities:

1. Laid-Back Ladies Night - low key, fun, fellowship, prayer, a challenge

2. Outreach Night - We have a BIG activity planned with LOTS of outside
ladies invited to come in and join us - with a planned
craft or interesting activity and a quick gospel
presentation (so as not to overwhelm).

3. Wild-Womens Night - this is usually just our regular church ladies who
need just a little EXTRA fun in their life (ie: road
rallies, Christmas caroling in July, and other fun
and sometimes silly activities)

4. Service Night - we take the opportunity to reach out to shut-ins from
our church as well as to the community.

We have it all planned out, and with October being our first month of the new plan, we are expectedly excited about what the Lord's going to do in our ladies group!

That sounds like a BLAST!!!!  Have you checked out Girlfriends Unlimited?  (www.girlfriendsunlimited.com)  It's a great front porch to your women's ministry!  Actually, it's founded on a philosophy of 4 B's: first, we Befriend women and give them a place to Belong...then they come to Believe in Jesus and Become more like him!  And the process begins all over again when women then begin to Befriend other women!

All of Group's women's ministry resources can be linked to one or more of these areas of the process, and Girlfriends Unlimited can provide the continuity through the process overall.  For example, at my church, we have been very strong in the Believe and Become, but we've been missing the Befriend and Belong pieces, so Girlfriends has really complemented what we already have in place.  So, now in addition to our studies like Simply Relevant and Rendezvous (which we're just getting ready to begin!) as well as retreats such as Heart Spa and Chocolate Boutique, we have Girlfriends Nights Out!!!

Love it!

I'm excited about what God is doing in our women's ministries.  We are a small re-start in a very post-modern / wealthy Idaho community.  The women we are reaching are mostly 30 and under.

Here's what we've got going:

A monthly "Hang Out With the Girls" Night  (go to the movies, have movie or game night at the church, or sometimes we take a day thrift store shopping and out to lunch)

Weekly:  Coffee Before Bible Study at a local coffee place

Weekly:  Bible Study, video based. We have tripled in the last 3 months

Weekly:  Meet for lunch during lunch hour at a local eatery.  We have several non believers who come every week.  This has been a great checking us out place before coming to Bible Study.

Bi-annually:  We attend a conference that's planned by someone else.  And we also plan our own conference that we invite other churches to.  This year "The I Know I Am A Princess Conference"... lots of prizes, great music and a great speaker, a spa center, make caramel apples or jewelry and a shopping fair where women can sell what they want to and the rest shop.

Blessings,
Jan in Idaho
