| | Hello! I'm looking for some suggestions on how to make this bandanna bonus craft work. I am having difficulty tying the beads on. I have had a 4 year old and an 8 year old try this craft. I have even cut the strips longer, almost 3 inches, and they can't tie them. If I twist the end the 8 year old could tie it but the knot was really low and then the knot was too narrow and the bead could fall off. I love this idea but I am having a hard time figuring out how to make it a craft the kids can do in the time allotted. Any ideas and suggestions are greatly welcomed and appreciated. Putting the bead on was not an issue just the tying afterwards. Thanks in advance |

| | I had the same issue when I attempted this craft. We are just going to have the children cut the fringe and not add beads. I am not quite sure what our preschoolers will do that night. I am thinking of having them make a sock stick horse. |

| Dawn...I was thinking about this...I used to do these tiny braids in my daughters' hair...I put a small piece of foil on the end and then threaded the beads over that. At the end (after all beads are on), you simply fold up the foil and it holds the beads in place. Maybe this would help? Kimberly

| | We're going to have the kids stamp the bandannas. We bought the pack of western stamps from OTC. They are really large and nice. We've already tested it and it works really well. Adults will brush the paint onto the stamp with the foamy brushes so the kids don't just glob on the paint. We'll be stamping with black craft paint onto red bandannas. You could also use white paint if you have dark color bandannas. Thanks, Judi |

| | You could try quick drying glue like the kind everyone's fingers get stuck to. Can't think of the name of it. Hope that helps. Tammy

| | Thanks Ladies, I have been racking my brain over this craft for days. I finally have a solution. We are making Bolas to wear on the bandanna's instead. I will post a picture for you. I made them out of foam sheets and here is the coolest part.......I heat the foam with a hair dryer or embossing tool then I press a rubber stamp in it with the childs initial and it embosses. So they are branding their initial into the bola. I colored in the letter after with a sharpie. The foam shape is just a rectangle with the corners cut off. Then I just punch a hole on either side of the letter. Then I threaded two pieces of cording through holes from back to front on both sides. The first and last bead I threaded one string through one side of the bead and the other string through the other side. This makes it so it will slide up and hold tight next to the foam. Then the rest of the beads can have both strings threaded through the same side until the last bead which will be the same as the first. This way the beads can't fall off. I will try and post several pictures. Thanks again for all your great suggestions! Oh by the way my lesson idea is a combo of the Bandanna bonus and day 5 God is in charge. I figured we coud talk about a uniform or badge representing a person in charge, like a sherriff's star etc.(day5). Then for each bead they put on they can tell something God can be in charge of in their lives. I am rushing to get this posted. So if something doesn't make sense please email me if you plan to use any of it and need more clearification. ( I also thougth to give them the option of a G for God instead of their initial.) Ok gotta go . My little people are calling me. Thanks again, Dawn . |

| That looks great! You could do the beads like the salvation color bracelets and make it on Thursday. This would be great to take for a mission trip craft. Fun, easy and quick!

| | What a great idea! Another similiar idea would be to do some type of neckerchief slide like scouts wear. You could do a western theme. About anything can be hot glued to a piece of PVC pipe to make a slide. R
