| | I was just wondering this question because many VBS Directors are picky about their VBS themes and some go with the flow of a certain publisher. I talked to one of my volunteers for VBS this year and he said to go with what I thought about VBS 2008. It took me a little bit to get his opinion. God Bless, Josh T. in Ohio

| Our Board of Christian Education goes through our options and approves one (usually the Group one). The more people excited about the theme, the easier it is to put it on.

| I've had the most helpers sign-up this year because they like this theme. Surprisingly, some curious helpers ask me to tell them what next years theme will be as soon as possible

| I really don't know if anyone cares. I've never asked...The only ones I usually talk to about it is my co-director and the person in charge of decorating. It doesn't make us stray from Group but we do think "Oh how easy" or "Oh my! How difficult" it will be to decorate!
I'd be curious to know but not enough to risk opening a can of worms about it.

| Our VBS is in August, so I already know all the potential themes by that time. Last year, my volunteers told me not to stray from Group unless there was a compelling reason because they find it so user friendly and Chadder is such a hit. Although they didn't really chose based on theme, they did unanimously vote down the secret agent theme...

| | I humbly admit that God has gifted me with certain decorating abilities, but it has been my energies and enthusiasm that has inspired many to get excited about VBS and discover their own creative talents every year. Regardless of the curriculum my workers have always looked forward to the coming year's theme. They are confident that together we can transform an ordinary room into an underwater world, a 1st Century marketplace or even a Wild West Ranch. But most importantly, they know that whatever the theme God can and will use us to transform the life of children and adults alike. For us it's not the theme, song selections, crafts or games that matter. It's the message of hope and love that we make sure we convey in a fun and exciting way.
Partnering with parents to "TRAIN" up our children in the way they should go! |

| | The directors for our community VBS look over the different options. This year they were trying to save money and liked the ranch theme so they used my free kit! I think they're hooked on the program now, though! At our old church after the first year with Group we looked at other publishers and everyone just wanted to stay with the rotation format. So Group it was from there on out. We were never disappointed. I think it really helps get volunteers to stay with a standard format/publisher regardless of theme. I know our snacks, games and Chadder leaders would love to do that again. I'm happy to do the opening/closing again next year and Roger will come around about the story time (he gets so grouchy every year, but never delegates a thing!). Our Chadder leader just couldn't get over how EASY it was to lead each day! So that's a long way 'round the barn to say.... I don't think they care as long as the lessons themselves reach the kids.

| | Honestly.... This quote from the survey pretty much sums up my feelings and I hope she doesn't mind if I share it: "Through the years, I don't dream of themes, I respond to them. I don't have the time to wish for things so I don't dwell there. Group does an awesome job of putting a program together. That's what we pay for and hope for...I'm not driven to demand or expect certain things so whatever happens, I'll go with." I would love to see a Bayou theme, but if it's a Australian theme I'll adapt and go on....
