Can someone give me an estimate of how much polyfil it takes to fill a package of 20 bears?  Also, does is matter which color bear is sent to IBS - purple or green?

As I understand it, It's one bag of polyfil per crew which is based on 5 children so that would fill 10 bears. I think that may be high but possibly not. As to which color to send, either one can go--let the child choose the color they want and the other one is sent

We asked the crafty people at church to dig through their closets and send in leftover polyfil.  By the time AR started we had 20 to 25 bags that were 1/4 to 1/2 full of the stuffing.  That was more than enough to fill our 80 bears.  We could not get a single person to take the leftovers back home again!!

So. I'm not answering anyone's questions .  I don't know how much you need or who has good prices.  But maybe you can get a few people to clean out their closets!

We just finished this VBS last week.  I, too, tried to find out how much polyfill it took to do the bears.  We used  160 oz. to do  260 bears (as I evaluate the week).  I had a 5 lb.  (80 oz.) box donated and four 20 oz. bags. We used all of it. I had 130 children. (So figure about .75 oz per child).

The sample sent to us was about 1/2 the amount of polyfil needed.  Our director was concerned about the shipping costs, and did not want to add anymore polyfil to our request list.  The rest of us agreed to pay the shipping costs for the K2K.

I know that the bears will go to "Africa".  With so many bears being made all over the US, this summer, is there any way to know which countries actually get these bears?

There will be an update on the Prayer Bears after everyone's Avalanche Ranch VBS is done. Here's Operation Kid-to-Kid's website. http://www.ok2k.org/index.asp

For pricing I would try Wal-Mart if you have a fabric department.  I got a 10lb box for $17.00.  If your local Wal-Mart does not have it try AC Moore.  They have a 10lb box as well.  It is $30.00 but if you use the 40% coupon you can save some.
