Wanted to show ya'll the trading card holder I ended up making...  it is made out of foam but it is shaped like a back jean pocket and then it has the ar logo on it and a foam horse.   I punched holes all around and then "stitched" with a very thin twin and then just tie at the top and now the kids will be able to slip their trading cards into their pocket.  ...  so cute... well I thought so anyway! LOL!

VERY Cute!  Would it be easier to do the stitch that goes around the outside and back in through every hole?  I'm not sure how to describe it!  YIKES!  But I think it would hold the foam together a little better and be less likely to rip the holes.

Like this one!

How did you get the AR logo on there?

Yet another great addition to the S.I.F.A.R. site. Thanks Michelle/Peggy.

It might for the elementary kids be easier... I just figured for our preschoolers it would be sooo much easier for them to stitch and plus it would look like the stitching on a jean pocket...

Sorta (well ok really off) the subject...  I have been at church every night since monday (except for wednesday) until atleast 10pm trying to get all this stuff ready... doesn't feel like it is ever going to be ready... BUT decorating is tomorrow...  I WILL take tons of pictures...  I just pray it all turns out how I envision it in my head...

Thanks PJ, HOPEFULLY I can get the other crafts from my mom soon so I can get those put all together atleast we have the first 3 days ready.  I have the windchimes and our chalkboard (well that one's pretty boring)

I think it is a very cute idea too. Thanks for the suggestion.

Very nice, and simple for the young ones. I think Peggy means overcast stitch instead of running stitch.

Love the foam jean pocket idea! Very clever! Thanks for sharing. How did you put the AR logo on them and the horse? I'd like to share our name tag idea. We'll be using the metal OTC sheriffs' badges that have a place for a child's first name. Plan to use small computer generated stick-on labels rather than the tiny ones provided by OTC. After the children make their fringed, beaded bandanas on the first day, we'll pin their badges to them. The bandanas will go into the crew sacks at the end of each day. We're also planning to have each crew sew a patchwork quilt. On the last day the children will glue their VBS photos to "Wanted Posters" and assemble a scrapbook page using stickers, etc. The pages are slipped into clear, plastic page protectors so nothing is lost on the ride home!
