Day one is now under our belt. It is a high energy program! The kids seemed to love it. The adults seemed to as well. Worked all week long into the night on our decorations. My husband built me a log cabin from carpet tubes which is now for sale by the way to recoup the materials cost only, not labor! It turned out great! Had some difficulties getting the buddy posters to stick to foam, but they are ok... Let us know what you think...

Thanks! The silhouettes were clipart from sites that have been recommended here and clipart.com. I traced them onto acetate and then used an overhead projector to outline them on he back of fadeless black paper. It is black on one side and white on the other. But I'm told it is also easy to do it on all black paper using a white marker or chalk.

The background is drop cloths like the ones Rene (Bellsic) recommended, lightweight flannel like material with a plastic backing. Mine are a different brand from Lowes though, Home Depot didn't know what I was talking about regarding the other ones. The backdrop on the stage is also that same kind of dropcloth. The girl who painted it hates it, says it soaks up too much paint. I think her backdrop looks great and it was good for my sunset as well.

The drop cloth was then sprayed with a brand new garden sprayer filled with acrylic paint mixed with water. It was really quite easy and is so dramatic on the hallway that has both walls covered.

Love all the beautiful backdrops and the cabin! Great job

Thanks for all the info, I used those drop clothes last year, but my sky looked nothing like that!!  I will try the paint sprayer and water down the paint!  How much water! 50/50 or just a little bit to loosen up the paint?

Where did you get the black paper?  I have rolls of the brown paper that I was going to use and then paint black for the sillouttes, but now I am wondering if all that paint will make the paper curl?? Has anyone done this before??  I ask because the brown paper was donated, the black paper I will have to buy, if I can find it!!!

Thanks to everyone for their help!!!!!!

I think my garden sprayer holds a gallon, I used 2-3 bottles of the color I wanted per gallon. I didn't want to gunk up the sprayer too much, but I'm sure you could get away with less paint. it just might not turn out as vivid. Experiment on the ratios I guess.

I got the fadeless black paper (white on one side) from a teacher's supply store. I don't know if painting brown paper would make it curl. Our painted murals didn't curl after we painted them, it just made it a little harder to cut, but still easy nonetheless.

I can't get the pictures to come up.  Is there another way that I can view them?
