| I was wondering if anyone ordered the decorating DVD. I am very excited about it, but have not placed my order yet. My only concern is that if it is all styrafoam, how will it hold up outside. We had a wind storm last year and it picked up a tent and turned it over. Will I do all the work on the s.foam and then have it ruined? I will probably order it anyway to use it for ideas for Christmas and such, but I just wondered if anyone has viewed it yet.

| I love mine! Everything they made was for inside the Church. So they didn't address the issue of rain or wind. It looks amazing - but as we are a small church w/limited funds - and don't have anyone with the tools they showed? I'm sure we will use it just for ideas and see where the members can go with it. Just a wait and see situation.

| This year they have a system of PVC support pipes holding the backdrop up. I would assume this would hold up fairly well, but I don't know what wind would do to it! What I like is I think I can reuse the fiesta buildings we did last year by making the mountains on the DVD. Love reusing stuff!

| We're a very small church too with a limited budget. What do you mean by tools? What kind? My husband and grandfather do woodwork and my father does metal work, would these be the tools, or are they specialty tools?

| Sheli, They use Foam Insulation pieces - looks like 1" styrofoam with a backing already on it - they cut w/an electric hot knife for a smooth cut. It does say that you can use a saw or even a kitchen knife. The finished products are really amazing. As for the wind, even w/pvc framing here in New Mexico it would be gone - we had two Red-Sky sandstorms during last years VBS that made game time inside. God Bless and Have a Blast! Wanda

| Alright. Here I am, answering my own question! LOL. I got the DVD and I really love the ideas. I do wish it were a little longer and showed a few more things, but i really love the ideas. My only problem is that it didn't really show how to support these big walls. We will figure it out somehow. I would love to do it, but we need a way to keep them from blowing over so easily. I will post if my husband figures something out !

| | How to do the walls: You'll notice that there are several pieces of wood on the printable shopping list. Frame the back of the styrofoam boards with this. Then, take a stud and bolt one to the back of each board of backdrop you have so it triangles out like the back of an easel. If I can figure out how to add a picture I will. Finding 2" thick foam: May be very difficult in your area (it was in mine). Not to mention, it was triple the price of the standard foam boards if we wanted to order it. We used the 3/4" thick standard insulation foam instead and it worked just fine for doing the well/backgrounds but it would not work well for the rock/stone pieces. For this, you can use the VERY EXPENSIVE 2" foam located in the floral department of Wal-Mart or Hobby Lobby. |
