Has anyone built an outdoor oven to bake bread for this shop?

Hello,

For two years our bakery shop has been ran by a lady at our church and she brings her toaster oven, with a wood box around three sides with vinyl tiles around it, (to give it a look of stone) and bakes bread during the entire week.  Our VBS is situated outside and this works really well.  She just runs a long extension cord and because toaster ovens aren't very big, she brings some pre-baked bread as well.

We will be using a box oven this year, since our VBS has been relocated along side a river bank, and there is no electricity available.

My Eagle Scout son has used a box oven a few times, so he and our pastor will 'operate' the box ovens (we'll have two, if not three) while another will work with the dough/kids.

Should be interesting!!

We will be outside next year and I would like to find out how this works, the box oven.  This would be incredible.  I thought too maybe to do a fire pit and make it on that.

Here is a nice site to make a box oven.

The MacScouter -- Scouting Resources Online

Our family has been active in Scouting for many years, and I can honestly tell you that one of our friends, who is a past Scoutmaster and now an Eagle Scout mentor for our Troop, has cooked a turkey in a box oven!

Our own sons have baked cookies and other foods in a box oven while on camping trips, so I know it can be done for breads.  I'm hoping it will work out good, because as I stated in a prior post, our VBS is along a lake river bank, and there is no electricity available!!
