Here is the link again to our VBS pictures since this thread has become so long and strayed a bit. I am uploadng more pictures right now to share and they should be ready this evening. We also have more coming from the photographer which will be on the church website this week that I will post the link when available.

This morning we had a lot of kids show up to sing the songs as part of the 11:00 AM service. They were so cute and did a great job.

Absolutely beautiful! Your altar photos are so crisp and clear. I still can't get over those stables. Guess what? Leloyce (catlover) is only 10 minutes away and she is making them. She said I can borrow them when she is finished. Wah-hoo! I love to see those kids having so much fun especially the cowboy and cowgirl posing together. That is a precious shot! Thanks for all your hard work, dedication and passion for the ministry. Your faithfulness and contribution to your church and this board throughout the years have impacted many lives. You will surely have many wonderful memories that will bring tears of satisfaction and joy. I am sure I (if still here) will not be the only one to miss you next year. In fact I think that is what this girl was also saying.

"Pleeeeeease Kathy, come back next year and decorate for us!"

Singing

Hi!

Love your decorations. The kids must have loved it. Can you estimate how many volunteers assisted with decorations for your VBS this year? Thanks!

Hi!

Ann, I started to answer you last week, got distracted, then forgot, sorry. I do not have a decorating committee. One good thing about that is that I get to do and have whatever I want. I make a lot of the prototypes the months before VBS as I am getting ideas, Our CM director spends a lot of time by my side the 6 weeks or so before VBS helping to make decorations. She is a huge help in getting a lot of the grunt work done. I could not get it done without her. My husband always does whatever I ask plus does all the stuff with tools. We had a handful of younger teens that helped a lot, including my son, by making things on Saturdays the 6 weeks before. They traced, painted, cut out buddies, silhouettes and made a couple of barrels. A mother and her daughter came in one Saturday and glued all the hay to the boxes and did some painting. The older teens in the youth group helped cut silhouettes, make fence posts, blow up the inflatables, tie twine to all the hanging stuff. Another mother shredded all the hay and took things home to cut out. For putting all the decor in place I was very blessed to have 2 of our small bible study groups come place decos. Some of them came back another day to help also. A college student with an art degree came and helped me do some of the final touches and the sanctuary. Overall I would say about 30 or so people helped me for an average of 4 to 5 hours each.

Taking it down is so much faster compared to putting it up. We serve pizza for all the VBS volunteers on the Friday that we finish and ask that they stay at least an hour to help undecorate. I make 3 x 5 cards with the jobs on them. We put everything in 1 room. This year however the station leaders came to me and asked for directions so they could start taking things down while the kids were at the closing. Several stayed longer than the hour.  The teens took out tons of trash and the big boys hauled stuff to the garage and the choir loft. Having 2 churches at the same time there to pick up decos, just as things were coming down, helped in clearing the church. The hardest thing is always the sanctuary which takes longer to clear out and get back to snuff for church. A handful of us came back on the following day for several hours to finish cleaning up. I also had to set up a display (my stables) in the Narthex for the VBS service we had on Sunday.

HOWEVER my workrooms are still a mess. I have walked in a couple of times and walk back out overwhelmed after a few minutes. Have to get it out of the way this week.  You free Friday?
