We have six posts or huge wooded arches in our sanctuary.  Every year I’ve put something neat on them that really stood out. One year Mutunga’s huge shields and last year, piñata’s.  This made a big impact, but I can’t seem to some up with something for this year and VBS is just three weeks away!!  I’ve thought of hats, silhouettes, wagon wheels---But I’m stuck. Nothing seems to really POP!  I’ve searched forum pictures and just can’t seem to find something I love.  The archways are dark wood and about three feet wide.

Please help!!  Any idea’s that don’t take months to prepare would be so much appreciated.

I am planning on using fishing line and bandanas hanging from the ceiling to make a neat entrance.  Just an Idea.

Pam, is it possible for you to post a photo (or drawing) of them to get a better picture and possible ideas?

Can you make a it into a huge enterance to the ranch?   Put the AR brand and name on a large piece of wood?

I found that the silhouettes were very impactful.  Simple, yet striking in black.  If you can fit those there, I think there would be a wow factor.  We tied bandana halves together and strung those across the sanctuary.  Also wowish!

Where in the sactuary are the posts and arches?  Are they near the platform area or as you enter?  You could turn the posts into tree trunks and add pine garland to the arches to create a forest look.

In our entrance which is narrow, I plan to string garland across it so that when you walk in you feel like you just walked under some really tall trees.  There will be a few tree trunks on the walls to add to the effect.  Once through the trees you enter our sanctuary which we plan to turn into a ranch with fencing all around.

WOW!  I appreciate you help so much!!  I'm sorry I've been so confusing!! I've obviously not explained very well.  I wish I could post a picture, but cant' right now.

Here's a better try at explaining. As you look from the back of the sanctuary forward, on both sides near the edge are huge posts, or arched tresses??  I'm not sure what to call them.  They go from floor to ceiling and arch towards the top to support the roof. I should also let you know they are dark wood.

The church pictures Mutunga posted a couple years back looked very much the same as ours, so it was easy to copy his ideas although we did change them up a bit.  There are six on either side.

THank you so much!!  Pam

What about cutting the AR brand out of foam, maybe about 3-4 ft. tall, and attatching those to the posts?

What about suspending eagles from them so that it looks like they are flying overhead.  We are going to suspend Skye from the front of our sanctuary.  You could print pictures of eagles in poster mode and the mount them to poster board or cardboard.

Each one could look like a tree, also.  You could have squirrels going up the trunk.  Denni <><
